Thanks to @Tad_T for a UP E8 Shell and @wm3798 for a shell trade and a few bonus goodies..

For Lee's E8 Shell, the stock Kato paint scheme is too old for Amtrak patch, but I want to retain it's B&O Flavor.
If there is evidence that some locos in this scheme went to Amtrak, I'll opt for that..


Otherwise I'll have to try to attempt this.

Yes, I suspect the problem with TRW video embedding is with the "live" part of the YouTube's URL.

I've seen tons of B&O E units on early Amtrak trains.  Threadbare and beaten, but to the end, the B&O maintained their equipment to be at least operable, so many were folded in to Amtrak, even if much of the B&O schedule wasn't.  A lot of C&O equipment was transferred to the B&O when Chessie's road dropped passenger service a few years earlier, which begat the later blue/silver scheme you show.  The ex C&O units could be identified by the second nose headlight housing in the door.
A quick google search should net you plenty of evidence.

Me too. I'm honored to own two pieces of his work. One of which  is a TTRAK module that many of you have likely seen at one of the bigger shows.

Those Roco-chassis E7's were actually a pretty good locomotive, sure made the original Atlas Rivarossi E's with the single-truck drive look like junk despite the body shell paint.   I actually took one of those and put it under a Lima FP45 shell to make an Amtrak SDP40F about.... 1978.
That was the first thing I ever saw from Roco that wasn't, well, you know.   It's a landmark design.

Another bucket list acquisition for the Retro fleet.

A set of Con Cor F3s  with the original Fleischmann drive was cobbled together after a swap with @learmoia recently.  After some coupler tinkering and a shot of contact cleaner they're growling around the layout nicely.

I remember as a lad seeing this pairing in the first MR article about the Reid Brothers' Cumberland Valley system.  I can't remember if they had corrected the wonky lettering of the factory paint, but those photos made me feel like I needed a set.  Of course, before I could afford them, I learned that the WM never had an F3 B unit, and of course, the paint scheme... later reviews made me wonder about the drive, and the proportions are all off because, well, ConCor.  As such, I never pulled the trigger.

Then a few years ago, whilst talking nostalgia with the late great Carl Tweedale, he sent me some videos of his set running around the basement floor for the benefit of his sons.  So the hunt was back on.  I'm grateful to Ian for liberating his set in our recent swap.  I've got them cleaned up and running in revenue service.  Only the A unit is powered, and it turns out to be quite a brute.

Right you are, @randgust .  Another nice thing about them is the motor can be swapped with a newer Life Like 5 pole without major modification.  The only difference is the 1 mm shaft of the Roco motor (which is basically disposable... weak magnets, 3 pole, good for about 3 hours of run time before they conk out) and the 1.5mm shaft of the LL.  Drill out the universal coupling and press it on the new motor, and you're off to the races for a very long time.

Y'all may have issues with it, but I love the truck mounted pilot.  Gives it a good Lionel vibe!  Keep on Hi Railin'!

The Toms River Chemical / Ciba Geigy plant was the main offender.  They had a discharge pipeline from the plant that went under the Barnegat Bay through Ortley Beach into the Atlantic Ocean.  Urban legend was that you could tell which color dyes they were making by the color of the plume coming out of the discharge pipe into the ocean.
