I suppose I should post some pics of my layout, seems like a responsible thing to do. The layout is based on the area between Erwin TN through Western NC and down to Spartanburg. It is a huge undertaking, and I’ll admit I’ve bitten off more than I can chew.. but, It is a fun experience.

My Buddies Fred, and GM50 Benjamin Horne helping mount the drop ceiling in and my first bit of scenery. I couldn’t wait to start on scenery.. but quickly learned to work on the RR to complete the sub base and wiring before doing anymore scenery.. The scene is “Camp 2” on Peppers creek crossing.

Shelves go up, looking back, cantilevered would have been less expensive and efficient.. the bridge is the large Lake James viaduct.

That bridge, the hardest test of my patience with this RR.. took 3 months. With multiple tear downs and rebuilds

The area scenic’d picture is rocky siding.. this was the end of my scenic endeavor as I realized it was being ruined with further construction on the railroad. There is still a lot of work needing to be done before I feel comfortable scenic’ing the rest of my RR… the modeling and scenery part is the part I find the most enjoyable.. so for the last couple of years it has been rather boring for me in regards to the hobby. I’m slowly getting to the point of having my “heavy” construction completed…the overhead shot has the scenic’d area of rocky to the left, and the portions of Marion NC on the bottom that represents an interchange with the southern and then the rural run through section of Penland NC on the middle deck.. It was important to me to have areas of scenery to run trains through between switching areas and communities also to have popular railfan spots represented on the layout.

Yes it is winter time! Late ‘70’s. I picked your brain a while back about your layout and the backdrops you do.. I need to figure that out also.

Nice scenery and "Dead Season" foliage, I was thinking ala Ed K. even before I saw his reply!

A massive undertaking! Very excited to see your progress. I'm guessing lots of mainline running with lots of space between sidings?

Of course Dead Season.  You can't model the CRR without accommodating the Santa Train!
