Not sure of the year, but my next door neighbor has one of those. Dark red convertible. I do know it has a straight 6 in it cause I helped him torque the head down after getting the valves done.

Mine was maroon with the 289-inch V-8... Would have been the best investment I ever made had I kept & cared for it...

I've been weathering a bunch of cars lately and also got a package from Showcase. Here, both efforts came together.

I'm working on the signals for there. I don't plan on lighting them (there's a LOT of LEDs in a two head position light), but I do plan on getting the heads right at least (so there's a 1/16" punch on the way from Amazon to make all the blanks I'll need).

More progress shots on the M420s:

Handrails assembled and painted.

I got hung up on the front and rear pilots safety stripes, the etching is so fine it's impossible to paint without it bleeding over. I finally settled on painting it black and using very thin yellow decal strips.

Another obstacle was the pilot handrails. CN engines 3500-3519 had "plain" handrails,as per the fret, while engines 3520+ had angled handrails. So I made some out of brass wire....

cut the handrails off the one set ex the fret and soldered them together.

And here they are, in all their superdetailed glory.

Complete with working microwave,fridge and hotplate! These engines are cast in resin, not quite as "crisp" as the later 3d printed models, but once they are dressed up they look not too bad.
Next on the menu: the GP38-2W

Nice work on the M-420s!  Mine are also in the paint shop at present.  Good idea to leave the handrails on the frets for painting.

Ed:  Nice subtle weathering on the caboose, and nicely photographed.

Dave:  Good job with painting the Unitrack.  Will you also add some ballast?

Dottie and I visited her cousin and family in Evansville, IN a week ago and I went to the Frog Follies Car Show.  Some of my car buddies where there from the mid-west and one told me a story about a friend of his.  The guy traded a brand new pickup in the 90's to a guy for a nice street rod.  Everyone thought he was nuts.  Now the street rod is worth probably $40K plus and the truck is worth less than $1K.

BTW if anyone is interested I have a '51 Desoto for sale  but will keep my '48 GMC until I'm not here (doesn't look that good after I put 150,000 miles on it  ).
