Interesting. What is supposed to be rusty abandoned track has a rather smooth bare-steel railhead (like trains have been running on it recently).

Like this.  I guess AI is  not all that good yet.

I built a pair of Showcase Miniatures semaphores for the 4th canal crossing module. There’s a bit of compression in my scene between the bridge and where the semaphores should be, but the frame the scene nicely and it will be nice to finish the scenery along the right of way. I’ll say this, I’ll never complain about putting numbers on number boards after putting them on these!

The climate would also affect the appearance of the railheads.  In dry Western regions rails don't rust as fast, or as heavily, as in wetter areas.

I have my doubts about the method of fixation of the rails to the ties -  ordinary spikes and tie plates were the de facto method when it came to wooden ties.

True. This looks like some strange looking modern method of affixing the the rail.  Made up by the AI, probably from combination of multiple methods.

As for my weekend accomplishments, I'm going to a model train show (Concord, NH) on Sunday to JRFTM.  :)

With the layout all cleaned up for last weeks operating session I took a lot of photos and have been posting a photo tour of the layout on my Grand Trunk Southern thread in the Layout Engineering Reports.  I also ran a couple of trains for the first time in a while.  I usually content myself dispatching and let others do the operating.  Before the operating session started, Fredrick "CNR5529" brought over his young daughter, I think she is 4 or 5 and she ran the Turbo Train around the layout.  It looked pretty good, so earlier this week I spent a couple of minutes taking it for a spin myself.  Here are a few photos of it transitting the Lake District and down the grade above Nathansville.

...

Not only that, but somehow a 100 year old cactus has grown after the track was abandoned.   And a big agave.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Here are a few images of a N scale boom boat I've been working on and pretty much finished this last week.  I'll put the print files up soon.

It is .....

... loosely modeled after one that the Hull-Oakes mill has used (shown above.

.

This boat isn't very big as shown by the measurements above.

The steering wheel is about a scale 16 inches in diameter. The two parts of the post cleat at the stern that project out from it are a scale 3 inches in diameter (.020”/.5 mm) and printed and didn't break off. There is some detail on surfaces shown that is down to 1 N scale inch (.006”/.15 mm) that prints but I don't think would print up in free air like the parts of the post cleat.

.

I have about 4 small additions/changes I want to make and then I'll post the print files up on my thingiverse.com account and the links to there here when I do.

There are more images and info about the boat on my build thread on the site ( HERE ).

A link to this whole build ( HERE ).

Today was spent travelling to Vancouver Island with several friends and operating on Steve Stark's Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway layout.  It has seen much progress since my last visit in 2016 or so.  It was a very enjoyable day catching up with friends and running trains.  We also had a look at Wellcox Yard before heading home.  Two SRY GP-9s were on hand for running cars up to a propane or petroleum dealer at Wellington:

Earlier in the week I made a little more progress on my two BCR cabooses.

Smoke jacks de-sprued and dry-fitted:

Brake equipment de-sprued and dry-fitted:

Couplers, trucks and wheels fitted to underframes:
