ScaleTrains 2024 NTS Announcements

Pieced together from their newsletter:

The 2024 National Train Show just opened and we’re excited to make several HO & N announcements including an all-new locomotive (keep reading to learn more).

Our first announcement at the 2024 National Train Show is the second run of Rivet Counter N Scale GE AC4400CW Diesel Locomotives. This run includes six (6) new roadnames and a whopping TWELVE (12) paint scheme variations.

Roadnames and Paint Schemes Include:

    Chicago & North Western/Operation Lifesaver
    Kansas City Southern/NAFTA/Gray/KCS #2000
    Kansas City Southern/Gray
    Ferromex/Diabla
    Ferromex/Diabla/Diexanos
    Ferromex/Zebra
    CEFX/Bluebird
    CSX/YN2/Spirit of Dante/CSXT #391
    CSX/YN2
    Union Pacific/ex-C&NW/Operation Lifesaver/Patched
    Union Pacific/ex-C&NW/"We Will Deliver"/Red Sill
    Union Pacific/ex-C&NW/Operation Lifesaver/"We Will Deliver"/Red Sill

All Rivet Counter N Scale locomotives are available as DC/DCC ready with the E24 connector or with ESULokSound™ 5 Nano decoder and a cube-type speaker preinstalled at our factory.

Preorder your Rivet Counter N Scale GE AC4400CWs by Monday, June 9th for delivery in spring 2025.

Also:

Our all-new diesel locomotive announcement is the Rivet Counter HO Scale Norfolk Southern GE AC44C6M. This highly-anticipated and often-requested rebuild is a must-have addition to any modern model railroad roster, especially for Norfolk Southern modelers, as the Class I Railroad now operates over 840 of the prototypes across its 20,000-mile network.

The GE AC44C6M has become the backbone of Norfolk Southern’s modern locomotive fleet, with over 800 units rebuilt thus far. The C6Ms are a mishmash of original C40-9s/C44-9Ws with various old and new parts added or removed. Because of this, individual road numbers often have varied details from one unit to another. In other words, nearly every C6M is different. This makes the C6M as complex as any other all-new locomotive project.

Just like the prototype, our Rivet Counter HO Scale GE AC44C6M is different. That’s why we’ve created 16 body versions with 33 unique detail variations among the entire series of road numbers. These “early” C6Ms represent the C40-9 rebuilds (NS series 8764-8888), released between late 2015 and 2018. Later C6Ms built from wide cab cores will be offered on the next production run including #4822, the “Thank You To Our Railroaders” unit.

Also - another run of Trinity Backpackers and 40' Containers in HO.

"Preorder your Rivet Counter N Scale GE AC4400CWs by Monday, June 9th for delivery in spring 2025. "

June 9, 2024 was Sunday, so maybe they mean Monday, June 9, 2025.  But that seems a little late to preorder for Spring 2025.

I was at the NTS on Friday and asked the ScaleTrains crew when are they going to do the AC4400CW in the new UP "small flag" livery. All they said was, "I'm sure we'll do it eventually..."  :|

On the other hand, even though it's out of my era, I finally got to see their River County SD40T-2 up-close and saw that super sexy see-through rear grille. I don't think the Intermountain tunnel motor deserves to be coupled to one of the Scale Trains' versions. OMG I just might break down and get one for my "SP retro train."

I’ll be getting two of the AC44C6M’s for use as NS interchange power on the Greenville district in Seneca, most likely the blue mane and one of the standard black units.

I model modern era, but I have a sentimental spot for early '80s SP, so I already have an Intermountain tunnel motor and some Espee GPs. But the ST version is on a totally different level than the IM version, I don't know if it deserves to be coupled to the other one.

Sooooo tempting!

I had an Intermountain SD40T-2, but sold it off some time ago. The reason I wanted one is that this photo haunts me: https://www.railpictures.net/photo/203454

I spent summers with my grandparents around this spot.
