Finished the debarker building.  Not sure if I'll move on further with painting and moving it to the layout now or not. Will have to give that some thought. I do have the roadbed for the track laid down so could go ahead and lay track and work on the overall scene but will probably move back to the scenery I was doing so I can get a loop of track around the layout.

To the left there will be a low earth dam at the end of the mill point there and need to make a boat to move the logs around.

I'm happy with the end result for the debarker building and the debarker itself. I have a lot of hours in this and a lot of it was the long compute times of waiting the design changes to take place. It all revolved in all of the faces in the chains. Glad those are done.

After weeks of working on scenery, I cleaned up the layout room up and invited the guys over for a Saturday operating session and barbecue lunch.

It's a special feeling to watch one's friends bring your creation to life.  The layout looks great too.

At long last it's back to work on the General Tire build out.  Yesterday morning when I stepped into the 1:1 workbench area I found the work-in-progress bathed in morning sunlight.  Talk about motivation to see it through.  The build thread is at https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=58160.0

With Debby parked on top of me for 3 days I worked on finishing the River Bridge scene.  Now that the bridge is in I can start up Op Sessions again. Still lots of work to be done behind it though, just happy to be running trains again.  This project had many side builds so that is why it took so long to complete.

I’m really enjoying watching this come together.

If when you speak of boats you mean the little “boom boats”, I have a log load out scene that desperately needs a couple and would happily purchase some prints from you. Please PM me.

Thanks!

Craig.

I'll post when I do one.  Maybe sooner now vs. later.  I haven't seen one quite like the one in the picture (thanks).  Do you have any other pictures of it?

I'll try and do that one but was going to do one like Hull-Okes uses/used...

Do you have a preference and maybe sent me a PM now so I'll have it as a reminder and can get back to you.  The prints wouldn't cost anything.

I don’t have a specific style in after necessarily. That was a random image I grabbed after searching for “Vancouver Island boom boat”.

I’ll PM you.

Finally got back to adding details to my NP W3. I figure I’m about 1/2 way in this build

Thanks, the main bridge is a Kato kitbash based on an article around 2005, where it was modified with slope ends and extra internal bracing. It was a fun build. The rest of the bridge is micro engineering 40' sections with the right side on a curve. 85' barely make it through but a nice scene when they do.

Did a little field research with my trackside companion...

This will be handy as I weather up my next set of TTrak Modules...

And these might be the inspiration for my next double...

Since the sun hasn't come up yet, I'll consider it still the weekend.

Finally got the settings right and through hit-and-miss, decided that Lychee Slicer is the best one for what I'm doing.  So, I got a run of U.P. snowshields to finally print.

Here's the unpainted E9 A excursion set...the B set is the same except without the antenna, and is also the same as the early snow shields of the 50's and 60's...

I'll post some photos when I get these painted.

Cheerio!

I was asked about measurements for the mill.  Above are the approximate measurements of the sawmill complex minus loading docks and I'll probably also design a boiler house and maybe an office. Also not shown is the mill pond. Stacked lumber will also take up a lot of room along with a loading building/dock along the tracks.

Did some retail therapy after cutting our vacation a few days short thanks to Debbie's remains. Hit up Greenberg's in Edison on Saturday morning and bought some more JTT trees to plant. I'm pretty happy with how this view block is turning out. Still need to add a little more on the "floor", but overall, it's doing its job. Hopefully I'll complete this area soon so I can allow myself to move onto other areas.

P.S. The Thomas the Tank Engine presence was astonishing at Greenberg's this weekend. I've never seen it like this before. 20 to 30-somethings with full blown Thomas collections running and displayed.  :o
