Micro-Trains special runs? Paging Joe

I remember Micro-Trains doing some special runs, including over on Trainboard.  And for N Scale Collector.

I need a contact on that, I'm looking at doing a run for a fundraising for an actual car restoration idea.  N car is still in production, but this would be a special limited paint run.   Nobody else makes this car.

Note there's nothing on the web page about this - I can't find any reference to special runs after 2020.

Paging Joe, PM or email me.

Just going by all the special runs MTL does for N Scale Enthusiast (and also for Trove Star), I'm sure they still offer that service.  Why nothing is mentioned on the "new" website?  Dunno.

Somebody probably overlooked the page when they transferred everything.

The website is still a work in progress.
Yes, MTL still produces special runs.

Well, the MTL contact email address (as OldEastRR recently discovered) is not mentioned on the new website. I couldn't find it either. But a phone-call should also work (since that is listed on the website).

If you listen to Lowell Smith, the special runs are secondary to normal production.  And given the staffing issues they have out in Talent, post-forest fires, some special runs have been announced years ago and still "in production" for him.

So they might do them, but the lead times appear long.

Yes, he has shared that several times regarding his own special runs that are pending.

My advice is to PM Joe and if he doesn't know, he will send you on to whoever at MTL handles special orders.  This is likely the sort of thing they don't want to discuss in a public forum.  Don't concern yourself with Lowell's experience, or positive/negative chatter.  The worst case scenario is that they say they don't have the time to do your project. Or you might decide that the price for the project is out of reach.

If MTL is 'just too busy' for the job, but currently have the carbody in production, they might sell you a batch of undecs you could have painted by a custom shop.

But if you don't ask, you won't know.

Also I suspect that Lowell likely orders larger quantities than the smallest run MTL does (200?), which is usually what most smaller clubs or individuals order.  MTL might be able to squeeze a small run between releases.

Thanks guys, inquiry underway.

This is a borderline, MT may want to do it anyway rather than a special run as it is a prototype car, I'll let the cat out of the bag after the cat is ready.
