Bowser "poll" on FaceBook

I know a lot of you won't go there but Bowser posted on FaceBook the following

Quote
If Bowser were to offer a N scale Locomotive with a modern chassis, lighting DDCC and Sound with all the do-dads attached, which of the following would you most like to see?
A. Large Alco's C628, C630, C636 C630M M630 M636 etc
B. GMD SD40-2 Series Loco's
C. Alco RS1,2,3 Series Locomotives
Let us know in the comments
Share this to other groups that have N scale followings so we can get a good feel for what N scalers are looking for.

It's been a while since Bowser has shown interest in making anything N-Scale other than the PRR H21a and GLa hoppers.  I wonder what has changed?

I don’t have Facebook but would vote for the rs locos. If they’re anywhere as close to the ho in quality and detailing then they’ll be hard to beat.

They are jumping into crowded water with all three of these offerings. ST will probably cover the GMD SD40-2s eventually and Atlas Alco tooling is still pretty good.

Maybe we could nudge them to a U28/30/33/36C or a C30-7/7A/36-7.

Isn't' that what model companies like to do?  After all How many GG1s, Big-Boys, Challengers, or Chargers do we need?

Don’t need to go on Shark Tank to see that those are terrible choices for Bowser.

How about some Baldwins that nobody has done yet?

Well....If they do an RS-1 that is DCC ready, I think there is a market for that.  Wiring TCS decoders into the old Atlas frame is getting...old.

Thanks for posting the poll...I would have missed it otherwise.  Voted for RS, since everything else is after my timeframe.  But added a note that I would love to see their Baldwin switchers downsized to N.

No FB for me either. But C&O RS-1s are my favorite diesel locomotive!

The second part of A would be their best bet...

I think Bowser is on their own with the GMD SD40-2 in HO so far.. but didn't Intermountain do it in N?

I would be okay with them bringing the RS3-M to N Scale!

Scale Trains has done Canadian models of newer high horsepower GE's, but not Canadian specific prototypes (points for the porkchop windshields on the CN C44-9W's though), while Bowser seems to have found that to be a niche they do well in. C630M, M630, M636, GMD SD40-2, SD40-2W, SD40-2F, SD30ECO, and I swear they were looking into doing the GMD SD40 as well, but see nothing on their website. The EMD SD40-2 should keep ST going with road specific releases for years... so many roads to do.

The Atlas C630 may be a decent model of an ALCO locomotive, I really can't say, but there's so much about them that is wrong for an MLW unit that it's akin to using an F7A as a stand-in for an FA-2.

I 100% agree N scale U Boats need some love... GE's that were actually interesting. It's encouraging that they're at least floating the idea of N scale locomotives, and I'd be happy with any N scale model they do so long as they enter the N scale locomotive market.

The Intermountain N scale SD40-2 is the EMD built version. Granted, the difference between the EMD and GMD units isn't as obvious as the differences between a C630 and an M630, but they are different. What killed me was CP actually had 30 La Grange build EMD SD40-2's (CP 5629-5658), but Intermountain inexplicably did CP 5700 series numbers, all GMD units.

Not that crowded.  Atlas has done the C628 and C630 which leaves all the MLW versions open.  They are different enough to make kitbashes fun, but difficult for most.  Nobody's done a C636 since Con-Cor other than the Briggs conversion kit which is now out of print.  A C430 would also be nice.  Atlas has the C424 from True Line Trains, but who knows when that will see the light.

I'm sure Bowser asked about those specific models because they already do them in HO so the research is already done.  I'd love an ESU equipped or ready RS3 or RS3u in addition to the other ALCos.  The curves and lines of an RS3 are just so fine.  ;)
