Using simple tools and skills we all have, other than disassembling the model. I couldn’t do it in my life time. Love the backup lights and flawless parking.

Simple tools yes, but integrated circuit chips, not so simple.

I sure wish models were like this instead of DCC.

There are.  It is called "Blunami".  :)

While the workmanship is amazing, I don't think there are many hi-rail buses.  I guess a typical hi-rail truck would be too small to cram all that hardware into.  It  was also amusing that the natural operating sound of this model sounded as if there was a sound decoder in it generating simulated sound of an internal combustion engine.

And yes, programming a small microcontroller to do all those tasks is a hobby unto itself.  The video makes everything seem simple, but in reality things are quite more complex.

Thanks.
Yes I fully expected that, since the original unmodified model already had the railroad wheels on it.  I was thinking more of U.S. domestic vehicles.

To be fair though. As personal models there really isn't much stopping one from just sticking some of these micro RC components in a locomotive. In fact they would probably work as a great alternative for models where your trying to absolutely maximize slow speed performance on say a logging or mining layout with geared steam.

Where do we nominate this for a "David K. Smith 'Pushing the boundaries of N-scale'" award?

What's the basic concept here?  Microcontroller raw chips, some sort of programmer to load it with brains, and wiring into it's inputs and outputs?
