Athearn FP45 orders

I see that Model train stuff are taking pre-orders on MILW FP45's.  I have never seen a store takes a small deposit before, thought it was always a case of paying in full up front.
Given the way the market is, might have to order one now, rather than wait.

Is MTS the place to get one, given the interruptions or is there a better store somewhere?

Will the MILW UP yellow scheme be available too?

N Scale Supply takes pre-orders with $0 down, you just give them CC info when doing so. You pay when it's ready to ship to you.

Pre-orders have never been paid in full up front.  Given the amount of announced product that never shows up, I would never pay a dime for a pre-order.  (Okay, a dime actually wouldn't hurt me, but that's the max.)   Deposits for pre-orders is a no go for me.

I understand Lombard will also take pre-orders zero-down if you send them a mesage through the form on their website.  Haven't actually tried it with them, I also use N Scale Supply if I really want something.

Lombards preordering system works very well. I have an account set up with them. I have the complete Kato Milwaukee Road UP painted set on preorder.

I also use Lombard Hobbies and they don’t charge any down payment and you can cancel with no penalty. I just recently got one of the Scale Trains SD40-2s from that way recently. I also got 2 of the FP45s on the last run a number of years ago.
