One of the signature items . . . .

This 3D printing thing is getting harder and harder to resist.   :scared:

There are a couple of other items needed to control the crossing protection.  Signal boxes and battery vaults.

So we fire up the electron generator, then the particle generator, and make some Milwaukee Road stuff.

An old DKS trick for small chain:  Beading wire.

Fingerprint for scale

And here’s a set of all four to protect a crossing.

I’m prepping about 10 sets to drop on the layout at Trainfest and finally protect the motoring public.

Those would work for the WM signals also.  ;)

And, of course a proper Milwaukee Road scene needs feathered switch stands.

I figure a bit of wire for the staff and label printed feathers stuck on at the end.

I needed a Chicago looking brick tower, and just ran across this file in Cults.

This will serve as Noble St, the eastern staging loop on the layout.

Beautiful print job on that tower. What printer did you use?

I've been running an Elegoo Saturn 8k lately.  I originallly bought it for the larger build plate, but it seems to do a little better finish wise than my Elegoo Mars.

Resin was the ABS-like that I've been useing for small breakable details.

This is Grand Crossing just outside La Crosse, Wisconsin and is one of the newer modules on the layout. The double track Milwaukee Road was bisected by both the C&NW and the CB&Q (and the GB&W long ago). I thought this would be a quick project since there were few buildings and mostly open country until I decided to add the interlocking rodding AFTER I already completed the ballasting and most of the scenery. It's nearing completion but not yet finished. The rodding and connections are yet to be done at the back side of the tower. Also a couple of double headed searchlight signals need to be built. Overall it's coming along nicely.

Beautiful!!!

N Scale deserves a RIX level quality Pole and Cross Arm though.

But it was so worth it. Another example of how N scale shines in terms of offering scale scenes.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

I just stood and drooled when inspecting this scene at Chicagoland.  Beautiful, beautiful work.

In a grab bag of stuff I purchased a year or so ago I found cast metal cross arms by N Scale of Nevada.  Very nice, but a complete surprise to me.  Another candidate for 3D printing perhaps.

So this right here reminds me of my major gripe with Freemo... the lack of backdrops. Because even just the white nothing one here makes this all look so much better.
