Built some trees and planted some flowers. This is as good as it’s going to be for StL RPM next weekend!

St Louis RPM was a blast. The attendance was 950, and that’s a concentrated group of good modelers.

We set up 54 modules for about 8 scale miles. Our largest, but also most finished and detailed layout to date. A lot of gaps that may have sat for 6 or 7 years were scenicked anew. And lots of old scenes were spruced up.

Here’s an overview: [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Front and center in that image is two new end loops. For years we’ve been using a set of 19” radius loops that Bill Denton built. They worked well for detailed passenger equipment, but limited freight trains to 40-50 cars before string lining.

We figured 24” min radius would allow 100+ cars based on our CGW home layout. And that is still a readonable size to transport.

Karl took on one build up in the PNW. He built Tunnel City WI as our western most terminus.

John took on construction of Noble St, Chicago for the eastern end.
More on that project as we continue.

A couple weeks prior to the show, John dropped off the completed frames with spline roadbed. We did track and wiring at my place.

And let’s not forget wiring and fascia painting as the deadline approaches. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

One of the signature items that helps lock in Milwaukee Road circa 1950s is wig wag signals.

Mark Runyan started some design work on animated ones. And while we sort out the tiny mechanism, I thought I should print out some stand ins to protect road crossings in the mean time.

So these are static, and printed on a Saturn 8k with Elegoo ABS like resin. They are surprisingly flexible and should survive.

I print them upside down to limit the supports needed. Cut from supports prior to cure, and cured upside down while the 0.010 harps firm up enough to support the mech and bell.

Let’s try a fresh photo. More detail painting and some Ruby Red gallery glass.

I wonder if the forum stopped reducing the file size on cell phone uploads.  I tried to cut the file size and reuploaded the last.  Let me know if it shows up faster.

Yeah it just happened again. I see the paperclip for attachment, but nothing where the photos are. Except right now as I'm typing this reply I see the photos below.

And soon as I hit post I will see your photos.

I can see all the photos so far without issue.
