I found this this shot by accident and thought, 'hey that would make a good model in Free-moN'.
Of course it may scale out to fill the whole room but it's worth a look.



Are there any good drawings out there of the Depot at that time?

The Milwuakee Road Depot still exists, and last served as the icon of Wausau Insurance company.

There's even an old N scale kit of it.

I see that there is a plan to turn it into a brewery, which is in good taste (pun intended) and will keep it as original as possible.

A little search shows that it was a Walthers Kit, but I don't see any around, it it an obsolete kit?
I am quite happy to look at the drawings Walthers used if they are filed away somewhere.
An Ariel shot would be neat.  Did this get put into a specialist publication?

Do a Google search for 'Wausau WI train depot'. Then under the 'Images' tag you'll find tons of photos from different eras.

As for drawings... they aren't all that great of quality, but the Milwaukee Public Museum has copies of the original drawings of the "town" & "track" sides.

If you expand the image and look at the full size version the quality is really good, minus the watermarks.

Having gown up in Wausau, I recognized that the photo was taken from the E. Bridge Street bridge over the Wisconsin River, looking north.  The former St. Mary's Hospital is visible in the distance in the upper right corner, and the Wausau Concrete plant is at the center.  The line continues north through Merrill to Tomahawk.  The Wausau depot lies to the south of this loction.

Didn’t the Milwaukee Road Depot get turned into the Hiawatha Bar?

I lived in Mosinee, (about 18 miles south of Wausau) the lake DuBay area from 1976 to 2014. I never really spent time in Wausau area chasing trains, so anything north of Kraft Foods and County Hwy N in Wausau I am unfamiliar with.

I messaged Depots by John, but he doesn't have anything for Wausau.

There are some good shots on Kohlin.com, but what I really need is a 'track plan' of the whole thing through different years/eras.
Can Sokramiketes give me a lead, where do I even begin to start searching ?

If I can get something solid to work with I can see what will fit in with design software. 
Looks like a great workable scene.
