BTW Peco turnouts rely on the points touching the stock rails to power the frog. Soon as the sides of the rail get dirty they no longer make contact.

I generally like Peco track, but keeping all the points in contact with their corresponding stock rails does end up being 75% of the regular track cleaning routine.

That is why powering the electrofrog's  frog/closure rails/points makes them very reliable. No more need to keep the point contact areas clean.

Thats why when I did the Peco Turnouts on my 2x4 I spent a good deal of time linking the stock rails and point rails with little bits of PB wire, on top of DCC friendlyfying the Frog and wiring them to a Hex Frog Juicer.

When I first saw the title I thought of outdoor railroads, the large-scale stuff, and the many small frogs common in this area after a rain.  Running over those could be a problem...
