They put on a great show and pack the large building out each year.
The N-Trak & T-trak modules just seem to get better each year and now the side room has a growing Free-Mo section.

Lots of incredible modeling this weekend on display from TRW members, as usual.  I watched a couple Howard Zane videos recently and decided to try my hand at some more Pan Pastel weathering.  This weekend's victim...





I'm quite happy with the loco, but the tender?  Meh...I feel like the water wash effects aren't quite there yet.  But that's great thing about pastels.  You can start over or easily augment what you've done.

Got a few more buildings built and placed in their initial locations this week.  The riding and zero turn lawnmowers in front of Lowe's as well as the propane tank cages all came from fellow modelers on eBay.  Fantastic models that were 3D printed.  We'll see how the Shapeway BBQ grills look when they arrive towards the end of the month.  The Lowe's and O'Reilly Auto Parts are both kits from Summit Customcuts.

I also started laying the ground work for the trackside picnic area behind the diner.

Refined the T-gauge "proto track" a bit and made a section of 3' gauge ZZ scale (1:300) proto track.  Here it is painted.




I also made a test print of a T-scale CN wood-sheathed caboose (the end railings need supports, duoh!).

I picked up three Walthers/Life-Like DL-109's in Rock Island paint this spring and finally got around to adding DCC to them.

First I had to mill out the frames so I could run the wires and mount the Digitrax DZ-126T decoder.  I bought some new bits for my Dremel and it's amazing how much easier it is to hand mill frames when you have the right tools.

I have two units in the Maroon/Silver paint job and one in an earlier paint job.  I MU'ed the two silver units to run together.  Tweaked the decoders a bit with CV's (adjusted motor speed, added a little momentum, etc).  They run very well together and pull a ton.

I ended up using the factory headlight in both the lead units.....I didn't bother running wires to them as I figured they would be on all the time anyways.

I still need to weather them, but mechanically all three units are ready for service.

It's made by Brekina.  Think I picked it up from a vendor at the Berea (OH) Train Show 2 years ago.  I should add two figures  in the parking lot arguing over which is better, the Z28 or the convertible Mustang...

Those are H0 scale.  Compared to N scale, there is a huge variety of vehicles available in H0.
