I'm not sure if I understand the measuring problem.
Microscale also makes long strips of decal like those from Fs Decals.  You apply the strip over the car side, covering the window openings. That results in good alignment of the strip over the length of the car.  Once the decal dries, it adheres to the areas between the windows while it's hanging over the window openings. Then you take a hobby knife with a fresh blade and carefully slice the decal film close to the window edges, leaving some sticking out into the window openings. Next, you apply decal setting solution to those decals protruding into the window. That will soften them and make them confirm to the window edges.

I guess I was trying to be frugal and not waste decals. MUCH easier your way. This project just got bumped up in the (never ending) list! 😃

I decided that my new layout was not that good, and I have a project that has to be completed before I can create a new layout...




had to cut the tile, remove all drywall and the door jamb to get it in, going to rebuild the doorjamb and drywall tomorrow, today has been cleaning up all of the different types of dust, wood, drywall, ceramic tile...

I am 48, I figure that I am out of this house in 10 years when my youngest is 20 and I don't have any custody issues, then it would be someone else's problem

My thought's exactly. Could be a value enhancer for the future buyer, and the walls are all open.

I'd go along with that as well.  Not only for the added value, but because one never knows what might happen tomorrow.  You, or a member of your family, might need them sooner that you think.  And, as easy as it is to add a few extra pieces of lumber, it's good insurance.

Well, you don't know that for certain. It's easy enough to add the grab bar blocking now while everything is open. We're wanting grab bars for our own main bathroom, and they're going to have to wait for a full renovation since there's no way to assure there's enough meat in the wall to anchor them properly.

It's cheap and easy to do it now rather than blow it off and find you're still in the house 15 years from now and wish you had done it.

  Well I also have a shower bench that helps to get myself up , I just use the bars to steady myself while I get up .  Our Apt was built in the very early 70's before anybody thought about safety measures .

It's not only an age thing. You can **** a knee up doing all sorts of "young man *****" and you'll be very happy you spent the extra $20.

I'm a little late to the party but I dug out my old Interstate RR layout to display at C&O Modelers Weekend. I had a great time showing the layout and they were very welcoming despite having no C&O on the layout. I really need to get back to finishing the layout, specifically the yard area. However due to time constraints and more pressing projects, that may not happen for a bit. If you would like to see the layout, I will be displaying at the Beckley, WV train show on 4/20/24.
