Lol. Reminds me of the actual locomotives at the Guinness brewery or my ACTUAL favorite railroad at the Woodford Reserve distillery.

That article on the rail gun was neat to read. I inspected the preserved gun at the Washington Naval Yard a few weekends ago. I knew the Germans had built some in WW1, but I had no idea the US did too until I stumbled upon it.

I'm about 95% done with the M-scale (1:300) DL535E.  As always I've identified some fixes for future iterations.  Most notably to me, the colors are off--the green isn't bluish and faded enough;  I'm thinking I want to try NYC Jade Green or PC Green; The decal black printed as a grey-black instead of 100% black (my mistake when designing them), and it needs window glass.  But it's getting close.  For scale, the track is laid on 3/8" foam core board.

That's cool!  You sure like to work in all sorts of unusual model RR scales.  Never heard of "M" until you mentioned  it here.

Testing some ashphalt in the B&G Foods yard on my M&E.  Okay it's styrene, but it'll be asphalt one day!  I'm using a couple of upgraded Roundhouse tankcars to test the clearances.

My photo of the prototype from 2012.

Cheers

it was school break here in Ontario this week and grandson #2 Nathan, who is now a regular member of the Wednesday night crew, called to say he had a free day on Wednesday and could he work on some scenery on the layout.  You didn't have to ask this grandfather twice.  We worked on a number of projects since as we all know, plaster takes time to dry, glue takes time to dry, and since scenery is all about layering, it is a multi day process.  The 3 photos below show some of the progress we made in the bridge area.

Photo #1 is the same photo I posted 2 or 3 weeks ago and illustrates the before condition.  Photo #2 shows Nathan at work.  Photo #3 shows the progress to date.  We have applied static grass, some shrubbery, some trees, and repainted the river bed.  The SD40 shown in this photo is an original scheme I was considering for the Grand Trunk Southern but decided not to pursue.  It had been in a jewel case but I recently discovered it and a decoder has been added and it will be put into service.  Once everything is dry, more greenery is planned, and the waterbanks need  to be detailed.

I recently acquired some 3D printed vehicles for eventual use on my layout.

This batch is from a couple of vendors on Shapeways, where there is an astonishing range of N Scale vehicles (mostly American):

From L to R:  1975-78 Ford Country Squire Wagon, 1974-75 Ford Maverick Sedan, 1960s Volvo Amazon Sedan, 1960s Jaguar E-Type Roadster, 1950s MGA Roadster, and 2 x Harley-Davidsons with riders

And this batch is from a firm in the UK called Replitek, which offers vehicles in UK N (1:148), TT and 00, but he was able to print them in 1:160 for me upon request:

Clockwise from Top R:  Land Rover Series 3, 1964 Volvo Amazon Sedan, 1966 Ford Cortina Mk 1, 1969 Jaguar XJ6 Sedan, 1968 MGB GT, 1974 Ford Capri GT, and horse box trailer

The Jaguars and MGs are of interest as I belong to our local Jaguar/MG club and will occasionally stage a club drive on the layout.  The Ford Maverick and Volvo Amazon are needed for my Marine Drive diorama.

Now if only someone would print some Japanese vehicles for us - I need a 1970s Honda Civic hatchback and a Datsun 510 Wagon . . . . .

P.S.  The Shapeways vehicles have yet to be soaked in the Bestine.

I got the MS-4 painted, decaled and everything reassembled. I still need to paint the bell and whistle brass and give it a load of coal in the tender.

That looks great, Reese. Can you post a closer picture of the headlight? And how fragile is it?
