Ugh. Thus far I've successfully avoided the MTL PS2s... guess that streak ends now.

That's good, because it is a nice model.

That is very interesting.  I would think that the "creators" wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on because I didn't think one could legally profit from a criminal activity...  Interesting indeed!

Perhaps the argument was that if the creators can't profit from it then neither could MTL.  That also might be more of a common law tradition than an actual law.

I thought MTL had covered this previously and that we will never see another prototype graffiti again due to legal issues from the "creators".
...

Yeah, my comment was made with that in mind.

Oh yeah. Don’t get me wrong, I have no complaints, other than it making my older atlas cars look dated.

It’s just not been a car that was high on my list.

Were those Penn Central cars used in revenue service?
Wondering if I can justify one "out west".

With the 5 digit number, my guess is the car had already been converted to company sand service.

Disclaimer: I don't actually know PC's practice on that, only that CR based their freight car numbering on PC's roster, and on Conrail, 5 digit freight cars were in Company service.

Related, the pictures I noticed of 5 digit PC H34Cs on RR picture archives are in company sand service.  That specific 742xx number series on Conrail was a total catch-all of ancient 2-bays in company service.

[edited to add the note on where that number fell on Conrail]

Oh.  And there were 3-bay covered hoppers mixed in the 742xx numbers as well.  Yeah, Conrail!!!!  Anyway, TLDR, I'm guessing the number on the micro-trains car was company sand service.

Did MTL ever release this one un-weathered?

https://www.micro-trains.com/index.php?route=product/product&search=norfolk+western&description=true&product_id=5198

I've never seen one of these that heavily weathered -  in my era the weathering would be much more subtle. Here's that car in 2012: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2937934

If they ever do release it un-weathered, I think I would grab one! :D
