I get the feeling that the Loksound micro is not seated correctly in the BLI provided connector.

I'm awfully impressed with mine so far. It ran flawlessly right out of the box and I've been running it nonstop for the last two days at speed step 3 without so much as a single hiccup. Big thumbs up at this point.

Yeah besides the issue I had shoving a decoder in.(With a smaller one announced literally the day after I installed it)  Love mine. Ran it for about 4hrs on NTrak without as much as a stutter.

I haven't cleaned my track in months and my T-1's run around the layout without stalling.  In fact, I have not had a single hesitation.

I have had some issues with the smoke.  I am using Mega Steam as well.  The BLI T-1 video says to put the needle between the side of the stack and the cylinder that is in the middle of the stack.  When I do that, the oil just goes all over the front pilot and no smoke.  I am definitely not getting it in the smoke unit.  I tried just dropping a drop right down the stack (like the BLI BB video says) and it smoked like it should.  I probably need to remove the shell and see exactly where the needle needs to go.  Is there any issue just putting it straight down the middle of the stack?

And then of course mere minutes after I heap praise on it the thing goes and does that "Paragon Thing" where it slows to a stop, sits there for a second, then speeds back up and resumes its journey. Seems like every BLI loco I've ever bought does that to me sooner or later...

We put it in the center opening.  There are videos on youtube where they take apart a HO unit, I'm assuming they are very similar to the N scale version.  Taking the shell off the Big Boy just shows the unit and doesn't show the innerworkings of it.

Strange.  I have a lot of BLI locos, steam and diesel, and I have never seen this behavior.  I use EasyDCC, maybe BLI decoders don't like something with your DCC system?

Plenty of others have had the same experience and I'm sure they don't all have Lenz DCC systems.

I have had it with Digitrax. I thought the Paragon 4 would be better. I have two Paragon 4 diesels and have not had it happen -- yet.

Steamers, yes. I have been torn on getting a Reading T-1 (for fun since all my steamers are out of my time) but I was thinking stealth and adding a sound decoder later.

Set CV11 to Zero and see if the behavior continues.

I am tempted to buy a Stealth version so I can use a decoder of choice.

I have several Stealth versions.  Be aware that Stealth has no smoke generator - part of the $100 savings.  Not a problem for me but others might not be happy.

I'm wondering, has anyone disassembled one of these yet??
Reason I ask is that I have one to custom paint for a friend into the very first AFT paint scheme of all blue with the stripe down the tender.

Not looking forward to the tear down!!!  :scared: :scared:

I'm still in my "run it non-stop for a week" phase, but I'll definitely be attempting to take it apart (or at least remove the shell) once that's done.

Ok after a week of running the three of them I noticed at speed the chuffing is too fast.  At a low speed it’s right on.

I've noticed the very same thing and it's quite noticeable.
So has anyone tried to remedy this in the programming?
