Bachmann USRA Long Tender

Due to my natural tendency to horde collect stuff for future projects, I find goodies on sale and put them away as often as I can.  Might there happen to be for example, a good use for a few N Bachmann USRA Long Tenders?

I presume they are Spectrum...I happened upon some nationally at an attractive price in three different roads.
In fact if there are any other commonly adapted bits used to bash, feel free to note them so I can keep an eye open

I have used the Spectrum trucks to replace the barely rolling trucks on a brass tender. I have also replaced the entire brass tender with the Spectrum tender.  If you do much steam kitbashing, the trucks will probably be put to use.

That said (and I fully agree), the trucks on these tenders are a very unusual prototype.   @Lemosteam offers replacement frames, via Keystone Details, to convert them to Andrews or Archbar trucks that were much more common - I highly recommend the upgrade.

I'm guessing these came from tender swaps on 4-6-0s and 2-8-0s, right?

It drives me nuts that they use them on BOTH of those engines still.

Bachmann sold them separately (without an engine) for quite a while.  They're great for replacing Model Power and Rivarossi tenders to get better pickup.

Yes, Bachmann sold all their tenders separately, and they didn't sell well (sort of like Kato RDCs), so I doubt Bachmann will ever run them again.  I accumulated a decent stash when they were going for fire-sale prices.
