I'm sure some people will be excited about the double shelf couplers. It is a good development, if a bit too late for my era.

I’d be more excited if they were sold in bulk so I could refit my other tankers.

I believe this is the second run of the acid tanks. I don't think the first run has been released yet, unless I somehow missed them. I'd like to pick a few up.

It's about time they trotted out that waffle tooling.

Here is the announcement for the first run.  https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=54154.msg742669#msg742669

I am pretty sure they have not hit yet.  I placed a reservation (late) for them and have been keeping an eye out.

Nope, they haven't hit yet.  And going on 6+ months behind ETA.  I didn't realize they were announced that far back .   I have a few from the first run ordered, will pass on the second run.  I am waiting for white tanks with green splash cover/stripe.

Oooo I’ll need to pick up one of those CSX waffles, they’re super common in what I’ve seen anecdotally

Thought there was a run of as delivered acid tanks, so correct for 80s/90s era

I know this was covered somewhere else here and on other sites, so long ago that the supporting links have all gone bad, and Spookshow's site is a bust on this one, but what's the actual prototype (if any) for the waffle-side box? I tried a couple weeks ago to match it to all of the photos I could find of prototype cars fit for my era and crapped out. When I search I get a lot of 'close tos' but I thought it was closest to an early 70s  C&NW car.

It's a SCL prototype.   The corrugated ends are a little flat on the model, but everything else is accurate.   As far as I know,  all other waffle boxcars had twelve ribs on each side instead of ten.

There really isn't a bingo prototype... its close to a number of prototypes but not a match for any as far as I know. CNW, Rock island, GBW, Illinois Terminal, D&H are all close if you squint hard enough... With all there are issues with ends,  doors the sill and the number/placement of ribs.

Here we go:

Pickens RR had some identical cars too.  And Clinchfield had the same cars as well but with plug doors.
