Big announcement today! Micro-Trains® Line Co. is proud to announce our photo-realistic, highly detailed, weathered and graffitied artwork is coming to HO Scale freight cars*, in cooperation with Accurail®!

These easy-to-assemble kits will feature Accurail® high-detail tooling, trucks, and tried-and-true Accumate® couplers. They will come fully factory weathered and decorated using state-of-the-art printing technology, replicating high-detail realistic weathering for the first time in HO Scale! Our realistic printed weathering and graffiti are blended with airbrush weathering for maximum immersion.



Kit will include everything you need to get these stunning weathered and graffitied freight cars rolling on your home layout or attracting attention at the club!

I'm sure that is a great news for H0-ers!  I agree that the MTL has the printed-on weathering perfected.
I'm surprised however that they are partnering with Accurail, and not Kadee (from which MTL spun off).

There were a number of factors involved in our decision - but ultimately it boiled down to selecting a company with high-quality HO bodystyles that mirror what we have in N scale, and keeping the price as affordable as possible. Also, the higher detail cars bristling with separately applied parts would be very difficult to utilize from a production standpoint, especially with our weathering processes.

Can I add my $4.00?  some folks are getting really worked up about this new venture.  Listen, this will not effect our current production, variety or scale priorities.  This is in addition too, nothing more, nothing less.  Our volume of N scale and Z scale is based on the level of sales.  We build to demand like any other company.

K… K…I…T ?? Kit? I thought I’ve heard of those somewhere… Really long time ago I think there used to be such things, but these days…

Hopefully this does well for all parties! If they’re anything like the N scale offerings, this should be a really amazing addition to HO scale.

(And hopefully it encourages some basic skills back into the hobby, which I feel it badly needs and has been lacking for years…)

Well, I don't have any quarrels with this - you have to pay for those fancy printers somehow .. might as well keep them busy ..  The HO guys will appreciate the quality I'm sure .. I would have thought that you might do them sooner or later

All of this is awesome. MTL weathering is next-level. Unbelievably good! I'm jealous. Unfortunately, it's ultimately irrelevant to me personally given my choices of scale, gauge, and era.

I do wish you guys could have continued the HOn3 line. I know Blackstone came in, bit off a huge chunk of the market, then puked it back up when they couldn't find a new factory in China. HOn3 is starting to flounder a bit with so little new product out there. There are only so many Rail Line kits out there. Thank God there as many as there are, but still.

D&RGW has been done to death, but all of us RGS guys model a little C&S after 1938 (the Miller car deal) and you already have the tooling for the Type III floor used on C&S boxcars (same as your gondolas, flats, and reefers).

Mr Storzek is a treasure and has contributed immensely to model railroading!

I'm sure the Hoers will love your weathered cars!

Maybe sneak some of Accurail's designs back to Talent to put in the De-bigulator! 
Their line of 36' and 40' wooden boxcars would be very welcome in N scale!

Are the car ends and/or bottom bays weathered?

Edit: NM, in the brochure it looks like just a bit of airbrushing on those areas.

Shoot, MTL acquiring Accurail would probably be a great thing for both of them.

I wonder if this is the first step toward that.
