Two new N locos for 2024? Fingers crossed for porting the GP30. The HO version is a very nice model.

I'm intrigued by the n scale freight car with a never before in n scale feature.

I tend to lean towards an N scale SD38-2 since they already have the chassis for it, but the GP30 would be cool (and keep my wallet safe).

I believe he was referring to one case above the pre-orders.

I think what he meant was that there maybe just one extra case of 6 locomotives for a road name available in their warehouse in order to turn the inventory faster.

I find their honesty on delivery times and QC refreshing. Hope to see them do some Rivit Counter SD45/SD40M-2 rebuilds,  particularly the CEFX bluebirds in 2024.

Honestly, they need to work on getting more schemes SD40-2's tooled and announced, the HO guys have really been after them for not releasing more paint schemes as well.

Part of their problem is I think in N at least they take the "rivet counter" monkier a bit too far- it is my understanding MKT ordered their SD40-2s to BN specs, but ST has told me one of the reasons they haven't run MKT is because there are minor detail differences from the BN tooling they have already announced.

I just don't know what it is about manufacturers and the SD40-2 and GP38-2, they are two of the best selling locos of all time, almost every major railroad had them...and yet there are common schemes never done on either loco.

ST could do 2 runs of SD40-2 in 6 schemes each time and could probably do that for 5 or 6 years before the well started to run dry.

Interesting thought! “Freight car” distinction might be a reasonable clue because of Athearn’s Bombardier commuter models, which do have rotating axle ends, but…

…they roll very poorly. If so, I hope ST can get past the inherent problems of a full-contact axle surface.

This is a very common misconception in the model railroading world, "this came from an already produced railroads order why can't they do them". ST is right in their reason to have not done the MKTs yet as even amongst BN orders the details can vary wildly and the times units have been done as order additions there's still changes made at customer request. EMD was known as Every Model Different for a reason.

I am left wondering if "new" may be "new to ScaleTrains" - e.g., the FVM GP60 series tooling. I would like to see some of their HO items offered in N, but we'll see what happens.

Being a protofreelancer, that new line of Hypotypical kinda worries me some.  I wouldn't say no to a SP Bloody Nose (or even Black Widow) ET44AC.
