Trainworx is shipping a Kenworth K100 tractor with a 40-foot corrugated trailer decorated for Hawaiian Punch to dealers now!  These are limited run models, so be sure to check with your Trainworx truck dealer to reserve/purchase this N scale big rig.

They sold out like what seemed instantly yesterday. Good luck to any wanting one.

I hope this means that all those modern trucks I preordered from them 3-4 years aren't far behind.

I got an email from Pat about this few days ago.  These are getting too rich for me (unless all I wanted to do for my hobby is collect the Trainworx trucks and put them in a display case).  I also have feeling that a large portion of Tranworx production runs is getting scooped up by speculators for resale. What really stinks for me is that I have been asking for truck parts (like wheels, etc.) they used to sell, and I always get an answer that there are difficulties with them, but they will be coming.

Well, obviously the factory contracted to do the these trucks is producing them (and small enough runs to sell out instantly), so why not produce some individual parts for sale?  This parts shortage goes back few years before the pandemic.

Going back to the speculators buying up the inventory, Tranworx is not making any extra profits from that. Why not just produce larger runs and sell more of them to the modelers who want them (for MSRP, not for speculator prices).  Trainworx would make more profit to have funds to produce even more products.  I seem to recall that @bbussey explained that the factory has production slots available to only produce X number of models, but why not shift the proverbial paradigm?  Instead of 500, produce 2000.  Is it really *THAT* difficult?  This scenario has been playing out for many years with no change in sight.

It gets difficult when the cost is high, or if funds are tied up in other projects that are slow to materialize.

The detail parts have to be expensive to produce given that they were coming fully painted/printed in multiple colors.  It comes down to available resources I'm afraid.

Also, better to produce a limited quantity of these rather specific schemes and sell out than be stuck with them.  Regardless of how much "wow" factor the Hawaiian Punch set generates, I doubt demand would warrant 2,000 pieces, or even 500 pieces.  I haven't done a 500-piece run in 15 years.

Everyone is hoping for that movie truck release windfall but nothing since those have ever come close, at least to holding value years after release.  Some of them have gone crazy briefly, ie the Legends of the Road pair, but even those have fallen back to just above retail.

I have $1215.47 worth of Trainworx reserved through N Scale Supply, mostly tractors, dump trucks, and log trucks.  The earliest ones have a scheduled deliver date of "First Quarter 2018".  The newest ones are "Third Quarter 2021".

I'm beginning to wonder if Trainworx is going the way of Intermountain.

And, no, I'm not going to buy a Hawaiian Punch truck for $70.  I doubt that one would have been seen in my part of Montana anyway.

I'm about half that bill right now, dump trucks and LTL tractors.  I need some tractors for all the DigCom trailers I have printed

I'm about $800 in. I've got a bunch of spine cars waiting to be loaded. I think trailers would be a natural fit for Jacksonville Terminal Co.

Similar with me, with a bunch of log trucks. Just seems odd to me that we don't see any movement on the older stuff yet newer items are being produced. It's like they are going after the easy money with these short releases. Either these more generic trucks didn't have enough orders or have gone stale or do they have the funds to produce. I'm hopeful that we'll see something but the timelines are getting IM-ish.

Toy truck collector market bleed over is partially fueling these. Pat identified a market that is willing to pay high prices for a product. If the profits help him afford to keep making N scale train cars, I'm all for it. Strange though that the factory can rush these type runs through to completion, but long standing announced products are held up. Cash flow or just the strange idiosyncrasies of dealing with Chinese factories? Dunno.

I do remember even Atlas saying that getting spare parts from production runs has become more challenging in China. Maybe the spare part market will turn to 3D printing to supply modelers needs for some items, as I see on Shapeways. They list gears and axles and such for old Minitrix and such engines on their site that I encounter thanks to their worst in the world search function.

Anyone wanting to buy these type releases for "investment" should read up on Tulipmania back in the Netherlands.

$80 is beyond my ceiling. Now if Trainworx offered decals, I'd buy two.

I have a few of the previous runs at "only" $40 something.  I wanted to put those detailed ones up front to be noticed, but I have an 8 year old grandson with ADD........and they are now slightly damaged and at the back of the layout.

These are so much nicer than older trucks.
