They pop up on eBay regularly, especially the fantasy schemes from the last release that killed demand. Foolish move on IMRC’s part given the amount of prototypical schemes that remained to be done. The fantasy tanks can be stripped and repainted.

I’m not certain that any of the type 27 intermountain tank cars are purely fantasy. The schemes might be on the wrong car like the Bakers Chocolate car which should not be on an ACF car but a similar car built by UTLX did exist.

This is the last release. All of them are fantasy schemes. As in, not prototypical or even close to prototypical.

60' single/double and 1 1/2 door versions of non hicube autoparts cars other than the Atlas or Micro-Trains/Con-Cor Model.

1. Bachman to do their NE caboose in a few Lehigh Valley schemes, as well as CNJ and L&HR
2  PRR/PC/CR ore jennies

Bachmann released CNJ on their NE caboose a couple of months ago.  They also released LV in a previous release.

Bryan, Randy's statement is true while the schemes are incorrect for a type 27 tank they all did exist.

The paintschemes being based in reality doesn't change the fact that your thesis is correct, they would have  been better served by doing more realistic and austere paintschemes.

North American, Gatx and Cgtx would have been good to see made. As well as some of the more common refinery companies. Sinclair would be a good example.

On the subject of tank cars I would love to see a steam era tank that isn't a ACF type 27!

Intermountain is notorious for that.

They have nice models but you have to be real careful about paint schemes.

Schemes are always "prototypical" but very often for the wrong car.

I was about to say that several of the IM cars are prototypical paint schemes at the least. The Gibson Wine car is even a 8000 gal car (although built by Standard for GATX). Some of the other cars look like the Atlas 11k tank would have been closer to the correct car, but it's IM and we are just lucky that they actually release something that they say they are going to release...

I'm enjoying seeing all the interesting and super accurate rolling stock that you guys are in the hunt for.

My wants are simple.

When all that shiny new expensive stuff comes in, pull those boxes of old stuff you've put away... never to run again... and send them to me.
90 T Atlas hoppers with grabs that look like sausages and shiny plastic loads...
Lifelike/Trix/Roco/etc. offset side hoppers.  They're so much easier to put Laurel Valley decals on!
Old Postage Stamp tank cars with no piping and chunky ladders.
Gondolas and flat cars that are only 50 feet long and ride too high...
Those old Arnold (or were they Trix?) COFC flats.. the ones made out of cast iron.
Cabooses that are close enough but not good enough (Lifelike Northeasts, for instance)
DCC incompatible locomotives, steam or diesel.  Standard cabs preferred.  Life Like Lead Sleds are a particular favorite.
And let's not forget, all of those old Rowa and ConCor passenger cars that look like anything, and yet not like anything in particular.  Now that you've spent your kids' college funds on Kato and BLI varnish, you don't want to look at those old jalopies anymore, do you?

You'll free up so much space under your layout, you'll have plenty of room to put those fancy new accurate cars away.  You'll thank me :D

And don't forget... they should have giant flanges, Rapido couplers, and only one road number!

Please Santa, don't forget that model railroaders ASK for coal and switches!

Already have that model I was leaning toward  the green LV like Atlas did on the C&O model.  And the "make safety a habit" slogan. and the plain red.  But I missed the CNJ model

Lee:  I have two of those old Arnold TOFC cars in service, but doubt that you want them.  They've been lowered, new trucks, body-mount MT couplers, etc.  Still black, though!

Really not a bad car, and the only GTTX-style car available in N scale that will actually run.  The Trix version was plastic, and every one I've ever seen, including the two I have, warped.  Worse, the warp varies with climate and season, so even if the car runs today, it might not next month!

Then there was Con-Cor's version.  Also metal, but they lengthened it to well over 90 feet - far longer than any prototype.  They wanted a car that would easily carry to 45' trailers.  I have five of them, and am still trying to figure out how to shorten them.  It looks like they used the same tooling, but lengthened it a couple of underframe panels.

How about a nice 6-bay Greenville Woodchip hopper like or similar to the one Walthers did in HO.

Oh, and if you really want Arnold TOFC cars, the underframes of their 60s/70s auto parts boxes were the same casting.  That's where I got my second car!  No trailer or container mounts, unfortunately, but you'd have the car.  I suspect that the mounting hardware from the Trix/MP version would fit the Arnold car.
