Well,

I hate these kinds of threads, as the mfgs have filled most of my wants, as I am in the "close enough" type of modeler category and model a well reresented era, circa 1999.  But for me, things that would fill a "want" void in my layout.....

1) C424 in Belt Railway of Chicago
2) All future rolling stock (and structures) be similar to Athearn's "Primed for Grime" (Hey, maybe even track) or in patch job or reporting marks only schemes.
3) ......All I can think of for the moment.

Happy Holidays to all!

Sleeping on it, I can think of a few more.  As a trying to recover locoholic,

4) I was sad IM canceled the GP10 models since I model the south side of Chicago and various ICG versions were still running around (or plausibly could be for a "close enough to extend their era" modeler.  I would feel less inclined to buy the CF7's but chop nose geeps are a need to fill (as someone who probably wouldn't chop up a perfectly good diesel).

5) Although I don't need them and have no use, I always loved the U and C boat units from GE and would probably end up buying one or two and wish for them because I know so many of us in N who would have use for these lovely locos.  And Kudos to Scale Trains for doing the less common C39-7 upgraded locos which I saw a lot on the UP when (they were probably C36-7) I first moved to DFW in 1984.  They satisfy my need for both GE locos and are weird enough to qualify as the ugly duckling kind of loco I like.  They are also my best running sound locos.

I've said these before but they are still on my list:

Baldwin AS-616
(Athearn?) SP MT-4 w/ skyline casing
(Rapido) SP B-50-15 and/or B-50-16 boxcar
Modern 4-6-0 (not the turn of the century Bachmann one with the oversized tender)

That's all I can think of right now but I reserve the right to add my 5th choice at a later time.

Yes, the Intermountain tank car would have fit the bill, but I didn’t manage to put my hands on any, and I’ll bet I never will, so it may as well not exist.

They pop up on eBay regularly, especially the fantasy schemes from the last release that killed demand. Foolish move on IMRC’s part given the amount of prototypical schemes that remained to be done. The fantasy tanks can be stripped and repainted.

1) Big MLW's... C630M, M630, M636.
2) SW1200RS
3) M420W
4) GP9RM
5) RS-18

I'm mostly good with freight cars, Rapido having done the Procor 5820 and Prairie Shadows the 3800cf cylindrical filling two big gaps in my world. However, there are two LPG tankcars that I believe were fairly common (or at least seen outside of Canada) on North American rails that would suit me just fine.

I'd be happy as a lark in a meadow if Rapido did the Canadian piggy back flats in N scale, but probably not likely if they're not selling well in HO.

This whalebelly LPG that's not at all like the Atlas car:

http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=cgtx63673&o=cgtx

And this straight LPG tank:

http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=cgtx63962&o=cgtx
A little different but similar:
http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=prox29356&o=procor
http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=prox29061&o=procor
http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=prox29149&o=procor

I’m no expert on the detail differences between the RS 10 and the RS 18, but I was under the impression that the 2 Canadian Pacific True Line Trains “RS 10”’s on my layout are basically RS 18’s painted in up in RS 10 paint schemes (long hood forward orientation).
And call me an angry old man, but I refuse to deal with eBay, so Intermountian tank cars are a little harder to find. I should probably attend a few more train shows…

"ACF 40’ sliding-door boxcar"

Does it have to be ACF, or will any AAR-design car do?  I'll agree that we have plenty of PS-1s.

I'm pretty sure you're correct that the TLT RS-10 is really an RS-18 dressed up as the earlier 244 model. They're decent locomotives, I have a few of them for both roads, but an updated version would be nice... after the other four models I noted of course. RS-18u too.

ACF, non-AAR design.
The Magor car was built to AAR specifications.  I'd love to do that given Magor was headquartered in Clifton NJ but it may not be practical unless there's some extra cash to burn.

Thank you!  I doubt that any of the Northwest roads would have had them, so I'll just wish you luck in getting yours.

The NP and CB&Q boxcars were basically AAR clones, many home-built, the MILW had mostly their horizontal rib cars, and the GN built a LOT of 12-panel AAR-style cars.  Fortunately IM covered the GN cars quite well before their recent meltdown.
