I looked for the part number 3444-AMC1602GR-B-B6WTDW-ND on Digikey.com (and even tried just looking for fragments of that number) and I get no matches.  :?

EDIT:  I also did a Google search for AMC1602GR-B-B6WTDW and found some links to some documentation on Digikey, but no way to buy one. That is strange because in my past experience if some part was obsolete, Digikey still had a web page for it (which then stated the part was obsolete).  In this case it seems that Digikey just totally deleted the actual page for this display.

apparently sales for that item jumped way up after I started sharing this around, and they were having a problem getting restock from the manufacturer; which somehow led to the decision to just drop those products.

I have an alternate part that works: 2632-C162B-BW-LW65-ND
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/focus-lcds/C162B-BW-LW65/13683605

Please note that to use this one, you have to remove pins 15 and 16 from the header strip between the main board and the display, then use jumper wires to transpose 15 and 16 between the two boards, because the display has those two pins out of order. (the header is 15-16-1-2-3-4->14 on one, and 16-15-1-2-3-4->14 on the other.)

Thanks for the info.  Those pins are for the backlight. I think that I'll just cut the traces on the display board and add jumpers to cross the connection.

Interestign thing is that when I go to Digikey's "LCD, OLED Character and Numeric Display" section then select "LCD" and "2x16" as the format (the only 2 filters), that display you found does nto show up in the search results.

EDIT: never mind - I had to select 16x2.

Just went to DigiKey for a bunch of stuff.  They have changed suppliers for the display.  It is now:
5491-AMC1602GR-B-B6WTDW-ND.   Same details.

Is there a pin-out diagram of what I need to modify to use this display?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

It should be a direct drop-in. It's just a matter of removing the old display board without destroying the mainboard.
