For the residential houses I wanted to use other buidings as the usual suspects and found these two 3D printed cottages on Etsy and I'm very pleased with them. What do you think?
The houses look great! I'm just a little off-put by the roofs. Not sure how common corrugated metal would be found on residential roofs outside of a mining community in the late 19th century.
The porches have columns but no roofs. What happened to the porch roofs?
Good point. I looked at the roofs in Wilson street and couldn't find a metal roof. Maybe I can change this somehow to shingles.
Is that E unit still in Madison? Does it run?
@keeper , please share the photo links you have been using for East Wilson Street. I am quite interested as my daughter lives on W. Wilson street.https://www.google.com/maps/place/W+Wilson+St,+Madison,+WI+53703/@43.0684214,-89.3876844,196m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x8806533ba5887cb1:0xaff161c6e0e33f56!8m2!3d43.0692175!4d-89.3860612!16s%2Fg%2F1trxf8fz?entry=ttuAs for the roofs, just fill them in and use new roofing material over the top. Will this be modern day or historical? This is nearby as well. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0676796,-89.3943311,3a,43y,333.86h,88t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1szwYBr3mrKqsJh74r13-siQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttuIf you eventually expand your modules you can make this: https://www.google.com/maps/search/bike+shops,+Madison,+WI+53703/@43.062435,-89.3930679,1316m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu
If the roof comes as a separate part, it'll be easy enough to replace with something that looks more like slate or shingles. I've found that Plastruct's brick sheet (1:200 or 220 I think) has enough texture to do the job without looking ridiculous.Lee
If you look at the upper right and lower left of this map, you will see that E. WILSON street was diverted, removed and turned into a trail. The trackage is still there. Opposite the tracks from the trail is a nice skate park where the homes once were.I literally drove this route on Saturday, and the trackage you see is all active. https://www.google.com/maps/place/W+Wilson+St,+Madison,+WI+53703/@43.0805868,-89.3694102,16z/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x8806533ba5887cb1:0xaff161c6e0e33f56!8m2!3d43.0692175!4d-89.3860612!16s%2Fg%2F1trxf8fz
Unfortunately no, only the porch roof is a separate piece. The rest is one piece.
