Dave, I’d be interested to hear any insight you have on modular railroad especially in HOn3 and does that club have an online presence?

Thanks Dave, that looks like a good outfit to be a part of, I’ll have to look you guys up when I’m out that way next.

How far did you get along on your modules?

I haven't built any modules.

I’m building a Christmas themed mini layout, hopefully in time for Christmas Day. I’m about caught up on building construction and still need to build benchwork. This year it’s gonna be a loop of track on white painted board, but hopefully next year it will be a little more developed. I still can share any photos, so you’ll have to use your imagination.

Buck,

Welcome, as Dave said always nice to see more narrow gauge modelers.  My layout is based on the Rio Grande Southern "Third Division" Rico to Dolores (The first division gets all the love)  Good luck with your modeling and hope to see some photos soon.

I'm looking forward to you obtaining the magic number so I can see some photographs!

@dcarrell8, thanks! In the meantime I’m trying to find a spare minute to watch one of your videos.

Well, keep in mind that mine is a railroad of lies!!  ;).   Not much historically accurate about what I'm doing except maybe a few buildings plucked from here and there, just trying to capture the narrow gauge feel!

@dcarrell8, nothing wrong with a railroad of lies if it’s being built! It’s cool to see someone actively working on a large HOn3 layout. I do like your concept and philosophy, and it is interesting to see how you work through problems and ‘show your work’ as you present your answer to the said problem. It helps me a little because I will be freelancing and trying to capture the narrow gauge feel, but as I’m sure you noticed it is tough to have so much freedom.

Thanks Buck, most of the time I feel scatter brained when I talk to myself on camera!  I'm always surprised when anyone tells me they appreciate they way I ramble on about solving problems!  But I guess that's what the hobby is, working through what you want to do and settling for what you can do.

As long as you are doing something in the hobby and enjoying it, that is what is important. I look forward to seeing some pics of your Christmas layout and other projects.  It's been over a year since I have shared anything on this platform, I mostly just lurk and look at some of the fantastic builds that people share.  I've thought about uploading some pics to catch up my Engineering Report with where I am now, but I grimace every time I think about the hoops it takes to upload pics!

@dcarrell8 even if it feels scatter brained it it seems pretty coherent to me. I’m new here but I lurk on YouTube and Facebook and I know of a few of the charecters from those platforms, yourself included.

I think the reason people appreciate and respond so well to your videos  is because they get a chance to see someone working through an issue and sharing their thought process, it may make the viewer approach their current task in a similar thoughtful manner, as well as helping the viewer understand your world through your lens, because at the end of the day we all like a good story.

Well, I was hoping to have a little more to show at the end of the year, but the mild weather we’ve had required some more real life projects to get done and I struggled to get my bench work done but I at least got to run a train for Christmas.
