I dont own a frame......looking for one though.

I've got one I can loan you for the duration of the project. It's part of a "project" of my own that's plenty low down the list.

Before you get on to -2s, I say, go crazy and do an SD30!!!

I really want to do this, but I'm lazy.

Has the GN SDP40 on, say, a Kato 40 or 45 chassis been ruled out? I realize it's not a Canadian prototype, so there are points against it already.

Are you an anti-straight40-ite?

No no no. I would never ask anyone ELSE to not model a straight 40. They just aren’t good enough for ME. I ONLY model -2 (BCR)

The CN SD40-2W. The IM version is just terrible. I would buy 6 of them for sure.

If you replace the chassis and the shell they're not bad runners and look pretty nice.

Asking a question like this is just asking for trouble and conflict. Everyone whats something special that they (all too often) alone want. Almost always, you end up with no more information than when you started. Since you are asking a question regarding engines too new for me, I will keep my opinions to myself (baldwin) so not to muddy the water (as-616). Good luck on whatever you decide...

My vote is for a GP50.

-There are at least 4 or 5 variations I think, which makes it tough for a mass-produced model.  (the rumor that Atlas had one in the works was false)
-There is a suitable mech in Atlas' GP39-2.  (I think that's the right one)

Yeah, I get it everyone is gonna have their pet.   Guess that's why they call it a discussion forum.   I'd say most if not all have merit.   Since there's already significant EMD work being done, something in that realm would make more sense, methinks.

EMD's biggest missed opportunity!

Or a ride through the uncanny valley, depending on how you look at it.

But wouldn't it be even better with a high short hood?
