No, nano has no pads - only E24 connector.  It is designed like a daughter card to sit on some sort of motherboards.  Tt does have bunch of outputs, but they all have to be accessed through the E24 connector.

You are probably thinking of the wired nano, with its wire adapter. It some bunch of solder pads in addition to the wires (whciih are just soldered to other pads on that adapter).

Russ, looks like there are more connectors on the bottom of the board.

It would be handy if Mark posted photos with the details of the light board, so one could make some guesses as to the full functionality.

Hmm while not the nano the micro with the next 18 had 6 additonal aux pads situated on each side of the connector.  Looking at the nano and the e24 connector there appears to be the same amount of room on either sidei of the connection.

I would like to see an actual picture of each side of the decoder.

As I said there are no empty pads on the light board.  I just reconfirmed that since mine is still in parts on the bench until I get a nonsound decoder.  I noticed this week that ESU had updated there site to include the e24 lokpilot 59925 and it definitely has aux pads. Supposeldy due 4Q 2023.  But I doubt that is happening.  This is a pic of it:

The nano has no solder pads (it is just pack full of components).  I'm going to do a write-up on it eventually. It is unusable without some sort of motherboard or adapter.

Here you go, both sides.

Here are some close ups of the connectors....

The only part of the board I have not visualized is what might me under the black tape/shrinkwrap that secures the decoder to the light board.

Well that is a disappointment that is has no way to utilize any aux outputs.  In looking at the photo that ESU used in their site for the lokpilot e24 I question if it is an actual picture of the decoder since it has a next18 connector.  It would be nice if ESU could provide a schematic of the light board used for the mounting to see where those white connections go to.  Some kind of micro connector can be utilized, since they use the under board connections, that look exactly like to ones on top, for the motor and wheel wires.

Well, it is still a puzzle without actually following the traces to the connector.  The headlight LEDs are already on-board, so not sure why additional headlight outputs.  I see several 1.5k resistors with capacitors also in the circuit traces seem to lead to the connector.  The caps are probably there as RFI filters and resistors seem to indicate that LEDs can be hooked up directly to the connector.

The other connectors with wires in them are likely for truck pickups and for the speaker?

Like I mentioned, I would have to have one of those board in my hands to be able to figure things out.

Can you point me to where that picture is?  I know ESU makes an adapter for the nano which is designed for H0 scale models.  I'm sure it has all the outputs accessible on it (just like the adapter ESU makes for the Kato wide-body locos).  Like I mentioned the nano is not designed to be used standalone.

The picture I posted above is straight from the ESU sight but I think it is for the micro and not the nano.  Here is the page for the 59928 lokpilot nano that just went live in the past week:

https://www.esu.eu/en/products/lokpilot/lokpilot-5-nano-dcc/

None of the lokpilot 5 or loksound 5 literature show the newest nano e24 connector options in the user manual other than one with an key shaped adapter board for the loksound that the does have aux connections on the adapter board, which may be what you are referencing.

The web page you linked to shows only one photo.

That is the nano. It is the one and only ESU makes. Since nano is not designed for direct use, ESU does not show the E24 connector pinout in the literature (modelers could not be able to do anything with it).

This is the ESU 59828 micro with Next18 connector.

Where did you see the key-shaped adapter?

In the loksound 5 user manual.  You have to download it from the ESU support page. This is the direct link the manuals down load page.  You will have to scroll down through it manual to page 30 that shows what appears to be an adapter board for the 58923 loksound nano.

https://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/instruction-manuals/digital-decoders/

The key shaped board is for the micro,  that is what you said it was for didn't you?  The adapter board on page 30 looks to be a normal square.  Could that be the one we talked about earlier in the thread by removing the harness that was attached to the decoder?

If I need to remove the black tape/shrink-wrap, let me know. I would prefer not to, unless there's a pretty strong suspicion solder pads might be under there.

Edit: Disregard. I see the first photo shows what's under the shrink wrap.

I wonder if the key shaped adapter is on page 18 (fits the micro with Next18 connector)?

Also ESU manuals are not most up-to-date.

The nano with the wired adapter on page 30 shows it with the original wire adapter board which was discontinued shortly after being introduced (probably because it didn't have many functions). It was replaced by the larger adapter which has more function outputs.  Both have stock number 58923, which is confusing.  The current wired adapter used with 58923 nano looks  like this:

To be honest, knowing that there are unused connectors on the top of the board, I doubt there will be any solder pads under the heat shrink.

I doubt it as well.

Regarding these connectors, I guess the big question now is what will plug into those and then what do we have? A series of wires, I guess(?). Any idea what kind of connectors those are?

I sent an email to the Atlas parts dept. to see if they can shed any light on this.

I would not use the connectors at all.  Just remove/unsolder them and solder wires to the remaining pads on the PC-board, or scrape the solder mask from the traces leading to the connectors and solder wires there.  Those connectors are kind of bulky. With them out of the way, there should be lots of room to add capacitors (assuming that the V+ is actually the raw rectified voltage (should be), and that GND is available on the board.

Oh it's funny Atlas just sent me another response to my email to them, saying that "the lokpilot decoder for these boards should be available from my favorite distributor in 3-4 weeks".  I guess someone forgot to tell ESU and my local pusher dealer that they are coming since ESU says they aren't even on production and my decoder dealer doesn't know about them either.

@ridinshotgun

While delayed a bit (not quite as long as Intermountain offerings   :D ), your vaporware has materialized.  That E24 LokPilot decoder has arrived at my favorite dealer:
