On Facebook, Kato has announced a new run of AC4400CW’s for March 2024. This new run will include CSX, BNSF, UP, and CP with two numbers for each road. They’ll be available in DC, DCC, and Sound.

Lots of people saying they are cancelling their ScaleTrains orders for the Kato run. Even if Kato announced Southern Pacific versions, I wouldn't cancel my order, but possibly order both and add PTC arrays to them and update them as they are foobs.

I kept hoping for the longest time for Kato to actually produce them.

Its been almost twenty years since they ran the original CSX AC44. Best CSX scheme in my opinion.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Also KCS de Mexico in Gray

But the 2 UP #'s are wrong for the paint scheme shown,

I'm happy about the KCS de Mexico units and will definitely buy a pair. Seems like Kato has been expanding their modern paint schemes lately, with FEC and MRL in the mix lately. You can only have so many BNSF and UP engines.

They show up most recently as:

Large flag, building America on the inverter boxes on fireman's side.

Kato does well by UP - but my complaint is cranking out the less common schemes like the "smaller" flag ES44 scheme.

Plus the new tiny flag scheme is showing up a lot (my UP watching is mostly the Tucson railcam)

Well they do say in the post that old road number is for reference as to the style being released, and not the correct paint scheme. Both numbers as is the previous 67xx are ex CNW AC4400CW repaints with nose light and pilot ditch lights. And it would be correct that both 6712 and 6730 both do have the "Building America" and large flag.

No UP small flag? No CPKC?

Kato used to be on the forefront of these things, c'mon now!

CPKC????

There isn't a single locomotive painted up in the CPKC scheme yet. How would they announce a paint scheme that only exists as artwork without a number?

And how many AC4400CWs has UP put the tiny flag on the nose? I know of 7245, 6473, 5755.

I mean, if people like solid nose doors, molded on grabs, etc... well, hooray for a robust marketplace, eh?

I was in Revelstoke , B.C. and right in the station was a pair of brand-new AC4400 GEs. so new you could smell the paint. Talking to the engineer he said it took some getting use to as they did not "load up" as quickly as DC locos, but you could hold the train on a grade with just the throttle. He then asked the ultimate question....would I like a cab ride? Would I... YES.

I rode to Salmon Arm and boy was my wife mad because she had to drive to Salmon Arm to pick me up. Well worth it!
