Thanks to a Railwire recommendation.

Eventually it will be a plant switcher.  It likes Peco short turnouts just fine!

Put a Digitrax decoder in this Bachmann after painting it.  Put a pickup truck as the 2nd tender truck, added lights and put new couplers on it.  Anyone try anything other than MT 1133's on the tender?  While I had it apart, after degreasing all the gunk off the inside, I used emery cloth to smooth the sides of the gears and then used a toothpick to smooth them some more.  Did the same to the driver boxes/pickups.  Finally, added weight to the tender.  Any sources for steam locomotive builder plate decals?

Looks great, Bob.  Only quibble, I believe all the B&O 0-6-0s had USRA short tenders, not the slope ones.

Curious how you managed the light?

Lee, that's correct on the tenders.  This was a spare parts project for now.  I'll be keeping my eye open for a short haul in the meantime.  I used prewired 0402 LEDs with really thin wire for both lights.  I carefully hand drilled out the light, then used a smaller drill bit to continue out the back of the light.  Then a 3rd hole into the boiler and tender, right behind the light.  Then it was a matter of threading the wires.  I like the visible wires, as it looks prototypical to my eyes.

I’m excited to see these progress.

I have two A and two B units from his original run of resin kits. They are painted and decorated. I finally bent the handrails. Those need to be installed. You will likely finish yours first!

Were you able to successfully grind away enough material on the chassis to fit the short fuel tanks?  I tried and broke two frame halves. I found replacements but Atlas hasn’t had them in stock now for a while so I’m hesitant to try again.

Hi Craig:

I have the first chassis running with its new fuel tank, and the others are in progress.  It will be necessary to leave some material ahead of the fuel tank for structural integrity, which I will paint black.  Dave is milling the frames for me and we are having problems with frames breaking.  During a conversation on this topic at the Victoria Show, Jeff suggested attaching brass strips to the frames during milling to try and prevent the breakage.  Not sure if that will work or not but we'll give it a try.

I added a B-mann SPECTRUM all wheels live  USRA switcher/short tender to an 0-6-0 of recent manufacture.  At the suggestion of another poster (Spookshow?), I flipped the drawbar upside down. That makes proper contact.  Mine now runs well nd almost never stalls.

I recently purchased, assembled and installed a permanent desk for my dispatcher's position in the walk-in closet which adjoins the main layout room:




After christening the desk for me, Michael took the first dispatcher's shift at the new desk, and issued the first manual block clearance from there to John who was taking out the Dawson Creek Switcher:






This was one of my best sessions yet after attending to various issues evident during the last three sessions.  The crew was essentially my home crew with Michael, Nolan, John and Philippe in attendance:




Two cars sent to the RIP track for repairs went back into service after I had attended to the repairs:




Some of my new chip car conversions went into service during this session.   One has been spotted underneath the chip loader at Dawson Creek:




Meets are not too common on my layout, but on this day the westbound Dawson Creek Switcher met Work Extra CN 3218 at Tremblay:




This session was shortened due to an early morning road trip for some of us the following day.  Prior to the session I completed the first Chetwynd yard trick and the NAR transfer, and I completed the third Chetwynd yard trick this afternoon.  Here Eng 570 is adding a chip car to the southbound consist for PV-06.
