Last July when I went to PA and visited my dad, he had some freight cars that needed repair.  I brought them home and fixed them (thanks MTLJoe!).  I had showed him one of the bulldozers I printed and he really liked it so I decided, while I had one of his flat cars, I would add a load.

I spent some time this week on my M-420s.  I had been waiting for replacement cabs for the second and third units and those arrived last weekend.  After de-spruing, drilling holes and adding detail parts, they were joined to the long hoods.  There are still some parts to add including cab sunshades and wind deflectors, horns, antennas, and front plows.








Off to the Lynden Train Show tomorrow.

I’m excited to see these progress.

I have two A and two B units from his original run of resin kits. They are painted and decorated. I finally bent the handrails. Those need to be installed. You will likely finish yours first!

Were you able to successfully grind away enough material on the chassis to fit the short fuel tanks?  I tried and broke two frame halves. I found replacements but Atlas hasn’t had them in stock now for a while so I’m hesitant to try again.

Finished the lower icehouse, and designed a part for the loading ramp, currently in the printer along with som 24”x24”x20” ice blocks for the conveyor and ice cart/chute to be designed. The ice blocks and ramp are printed in clear. I am VERY happy with the ice blocks (fist print was a fail of eight blocks and the ramp). Second print appears successful so far.

I am seriously considering this project to the only lighted structure on the layout. This section is also my photo diorama, so that might look sweet.  Thoughts?

This block popped off in my dirty IPA and collected a layer of black and grey residue as I was fumbling to get it out (like an eggshell in a just cracked egg!). A happy accident that I think makes it look like a frosted block of ice for on the conveyor.



Here I have added 600 grit sandpaper strips for the belt, one on the conveyor ramp chute and one under the ramp chute for the return loop.



Here is a shot of the two structures painted. The conveyor structure’s pier footings are not yet buried in the foam at the correct height. The loading ramp will be just behind the conveyor timbers and butt up to the lower icehouse door.





Before I finish the platform deck, my brother is going to use his CNC router table to put two grooves on top for the code 40 rail that @Cajonpassfan kindly sent to me. They will be set at a T scale width in the grooves for the T scale axles that @Jesse6669 is mailing to me. When I receive them, I will design an ice cart/chute to fit the wheelsets.

Chuck, that's a genius solution for finding "junk" to place on/around the tracks.  Another useful tip I can steal!
