Ill look into those CN units

Thanks!

They're quite similar to the CP units in many ways (major / more obvious details):

- nose mounted dual headlight
- same class lights above number boards except some have a pair like your CP units (CN 5000-5087), while balance have two pairs (CN 5088-5240)
- bell between the number boards
- flat sheet metal on the underside of the number board overhang under the bell
- * correction brake wheel mounted on the conductor's side of the nose except for CN 5000-5007 (rear of unit on engineer's side)
- snow shields behind the cab (as in the QNSL units)
- CN 5000-5007, 5111-5132 built with dynamic brakes (all others built without dynamic brakes)
- * correction CN 5000-5087 have a dual rear headlight, single rear headlight starting at 5088 or 5089... unable to confirm exactly which unit, but 5089 has single.

Hi David,
How do you handle the fans on top of the long hood?  Are those separate printed parts or made for some other aftermarket fans (like etched brass)?

Also, are there any issues with the resin shells warping or is that not an issue when you install it on the Kato chassis?

Welcome, David!  As a fellow 3D designer, I can appreciate the amount of work you've put into your kits.  You're doing what I aspire to do someday.  I take it you're the owner of Black Cat Decals as well?

Great to have you here David - and good on you Craig for giving him a nudge!

The SD shells look good, and I second the motion to shrink the vans down to N (especially if you can convince Allen at Black Cat to shrink down his etched frets to go with them)

The GP40X would be fun, and shouldn't take much tweaking to also make the NRE rebuilt CP GP38-2s and the St Lawrence & Atlantic GP40-3s available.

Cheers,
Stu

They are printed sans grille.   As it stands, BLMA etchings will fit on there.   In the future I think ill offer a sill with etchings.....but that would put the products back by 4 months or so.

Good to see you back David, still have that CP SD40-2 high nose I bought from you. If you're counting votes, definitely another for an SP Gp40x

@davidmbedard

Are the N scale CP SD40 shell stock items or made to order?

It's on one of the header images that rotate by now and again. Sadly lost all my pics from that time in a server crash. If I dig it out I'll photograph it again. Not sure when it was, but pre 2010 for sure.

These look great.
Looking forward to picking up a couple of accurate CP SD40 shells.

Best regards,
Michael
