I have a feeling Altoona will look a little different than this this weekend.

I’m afraid I gotta ask … what WAS that sleek consist being hauled along in Dumb Luck #2?  And there must be some sort of story behind it what’s going on there (?).

Every time I see the new Acela I cant' stop thinking that it iis the ugliest modern train out there. Who approved this unsightly mish-mash of cars and engines?! Yuck!
Looks to me like it is being towed somewhere.  Hopefully to a scrap yard!

All this time, i’ve been oblivious to the existence of this thing - had never heard of Acela before.  And have certainly never seen it modeled.
I got all the poop I needed from google.

Nice to see a working pair of ALCO's.  What color is the nose of the M420W? I can't tell if it is gray or green.

Lol, I don't disagree; that's what you get when you marry leaning cars with non-leaning power units I guess. And a mean bird- like nose 😬 But the looks are the least of its problems. The ugly truth is that until and unless "high speed rail" gets its own dedicated trackage, the train sets will continue to be compromised by speed limitations, heavy weight, and enormous costs. But good luck with that. We'll see if Brightline West, the Vegas to California trains, fare any better.

Well, you're in Canada. Amtrak Acela train has been traveling around the Northeast Corridor for probably couple of decades.  The original version (which is now goign to be retired) is actually quite attractive, and looks like any European high-speed train.

Bachmann produced the original Acela set in both H0 and N scale. I have one. As typical for Bachmann, the N scale set doesn't run very well without some modifications.  Our own Ron Bearden even had an article published in the N-Scale Magazine on making that set run well.  Bachann never re-ran that set and it fetches some pretty high prices on eBay.

Thanks Pete.  If you’re up for it, maybe post a pic of your Bachmann Acela sometime; just curious.

It's green, close to but a bit darker than the green on the dome car.
