pfff. And I was joking to myself yesterday after watching a vid on US gypsum that nobody would ever make a modelof these. Not my cup of tea but really want to see what some of the NG community will do with some undecs.

  If they sell the power frame seperately I could see somebody building a Shovel Nose . Anyway I went and pre-ordered 1 so we'll see .

And at the very least it appears this model will actually reach the market, compared to the vaporware that is Blackstone's K-28 and K-36.

If something has ever tempted me to switch scale and guage, then this is it.

Its a shame that they never worked on the White Pass and Yukon proper. The railway closed in October 1982 before they could be delivered. Stored for years, 3 wound up working for US gypsum in Plaster City, CA (112, 113 in 1991 and later 111 as a wreck replacement for 113)

Finally in 1994, 114 was sent to work on the WP&Y (now solely a tourist line) and has been there since.

Would be an interesting "what if" to have a 1980s WP&Y survive with a fleet of these along with the Alcos and GEs.

The kit design seems unique. Look at the nose.  I've never seen a flat plastic kit that folded the parts like they were etch metal.  That's pretty neat.

 I think there are others but with conventional cabs .  I'm not really up to speed on WP&Y stuff .

I mean...a lot of what we end up with is exactly that.

Joking aside, I may still get one. We'll see. Would prefer the traditional standard-cab WP&YR Alcos, but I'm not the one fronting the capital!

If they were RTR, I expect the cruise ship passengers would buy lots of them in Skagway.

Correct... But to be fair Bombardiers total locomotive production isn't that much either. They only lasted a few years before leaving the locomotive buisness.
