I ordered 2 things from them about 12 years ago. , received emails a few days later on both that they were sold out.  The second email basically told me not to fool around and order it when it first hit their shelves.  I have been doing business with others ever since.

I always liked George and Debra, even if George was occasionally grumpy.  But, he always was willing to take time to talk trains with me.

They were my go-to a long time ago.  The security of purchasing fell behind the times, and along with a difficult website stopped me from buying there online at least.  I stopped in the store when in NM.  I haven't seen them at train shows in a while. 

All of which is sad to me.  It just goes to show that customer loyalty can be disrupted by some small things and should never be taken for granted, given the competition.

And HogTrainz is a close 3rd (even with their "new" site).  With the long scrolling list of N scale products, it is like Facebook's stream of consciousness.

My wife and I have known George and Deb for 20 years. Used to be co-members in the New Mexico RailRunners N scale club in Albuquerque. We happened to attend many "Shows" such as Chantilly and the OKC December show each year for 6 years. My wife helped them put together  their sales room each time we were there.

Since then, probably the past 8years George has gone through several cancer surgeries and treatments, Deb retired from her position and has run the business for and during George's problems.

They are good folks, but yes have a strange operational mode.

I disagree. I have zero problems navigating the site, and it's responsive. Yes, I will agree that the cut-and-paste to fill out the order form page is clunky, but certainly not debilitating.

What do you consider the model for a "good" MRR site? Better not say M.B. Klein, which in my book is a case study in "trendy" where the form overshadows the function. It takes me considerably longer than NSS to find specific product, only to end up with "0 in stock" by the umpteenth click-through. Annoying.

Because of this thread, I actually visited the web site today for the first time in very many years. It still looks as difficult to navigate as I remembered.

Had several enjoyable conversations with George.  They used to participate in a December train show in San Diego, CA in December and asked for help from the locals (paid in trains).  I would have been glad to participate, except the show were always on a weekend that I was tied up in rehearsal and concerts for Christmas programs. 

I stopped ordering because I became frustrated trying to decipher if they actually had product that was listed on the web site.  (Sort of like trying to figure out what Intermoutain actually has available).

I sincerely hope they George and Debbie are well.  Regrettably, from their point of view, I will most likely never order again.

I also like N Scale Supply's website.  It's simple, and always works.  As for copy-and-paste ordering, I also paste the part number into a spreadsheet to track orders, so one copy will do both.

Nscale suply isn't that bad .. I prefer theirs over modeltrainstuff

Agreed.

MB Klein used to be good, but now? Nope. Hogtrainz is cr@p, though his brother's former site wasn't much better.  Midewst Model Railroad is ok, as is Mainline. And while Wig-Wag's current site is old and kludgy, I can at least find stuff using words I think are relevant.

Thanks for the mention @Philip H .  I think we are moving to a Shopify based system for POS so might be revamping the website in the near future as well.  Biggest issue I have with it is the search feature results in repeating same items 2 or 3 times.

That feels like a content issue. Again, my general open offer to help businesses in this hobby with some free consulting stands. Just let them know.

Try first selecting a scale, then, in the filters, under 'stock status', select 'in stock' before you make any further selections.
