Wow Ron, you really opened up the floodgates. I think I've received more donations today than I have in the last 10 years combined. Thanks everyone!  :D

-Mark

You're going to need it for those last few brass locomotives you've not reviewed yet!

Celebrate with a cage match against Trovestar

I wish I could hate them, but it's a damned useful resource. I just wish they'd been more honest about their aims when they came calling to exploit my work :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Speaking of that, if anybody has a 2-8-8-2 cab-forward sitting around doing nothing, please loan it to me for a couple of weeks. I promise not to wreck it, but if I do, Ron promises to fix it! :D

Thanks guys! And thanks to Will Everitt for deciding that I was article-worthy. I sure wouldn't have thought so  :P

Mark,
Nowadays I refer more often to your site than I do to MR. Great resource! Can't thank you enough for all the work you put in to keep us up to date on locos and rolling stock.

Absolutely indispensable resource for the idiot like me who likes to collect and run old school N.
When you want a ConCor Hudson, but you don't want the one that overheats and stalls, what do you do?  Look it up on Spookshow.
When you bought a second generation Rapido F unit, and you need to figure out how the damn things goes together after you've clumsily take it apart... Spookshow.
When some moron on Facebook asks about an Atlas C-liner, but posts a picture of a Life like, and thus needs some schooling... Spookshow.

I love the practical advice, the "vintage N scale Spotters' Guide" feel of it, the wry humor, and the unbelievable depth of each listing.
It astonishes me that even the most obscure stuff has found its way across your desk.

Kudos, my friend.  Congratulations on sticking with it!

Mondo thanks again y'all, this has been an unexpectedly great day for me. I guess I should have 25th anniversaries more often!

I just can't believe no comments about the Dharma Group hoodie!  :D

Yes, congratulations on this landmark achievement. Very nice profile as well.

The data compiled is extraordinary - so extraordinary that my little side project has generated its own listing in the passenger car section, complete wth my name! I consider this the height of recognition, and thank you Mark.

Yes, hooray for Spookshow! I've used it many times to find out WTF about various locos (and freight cars). I find it telling that O, S, and HO modelers wish somebody in their guages did the same thing. When you think about all the really innovative things in model RRing -- opening boxcar doors without huge outside tracks, end-axle electrical P/U for locos, modular layouts for RR shows (Ntrak) -- you can see that N scale is the innovator in model RRing, and eventually other scales have to copy its achievements. And N scale skill (installing a decoder in an totally-crammed N loco is way harder than in the cavernous innards of an HO one). Which is why it pains me that in the hobby it's considered "second best".  (At least in the US -- in Japan and Europe they know better)

Time travelling back to 1999, I did look a bit more like a Rob Zombie fan back in those days  :scared:

Trust this guy, he plays with trains! No, seriously!  :D
