On the other hand, I haven't used Tru-Color Paints yet in scenarios that require masking, so my opinion may change after I use up my supply of Scalecoat II.

Cheerio!

Tru-Color is just different.  I understand everything you said, and did the same with other model paints.  But it's not a recipe for success with Tru-Color.

On the plus side, you can mask and paint the next color in about 20 minutes if it's going over a good primer base!!  I love to be able to paint two-color passenger car schemes in a single work session.

Totally understand what you are saying Peteski. I'm just saying what I did and it worked very well for me. Even with the layers I did, I didn't lose any details. I keep every layer as thin as possible. Sometimes it comes down to one's technique.

Example of a couple units I did using the promoter.

Plus one on Duplicolor Adhesion promoter. Also works well on slippery Kato handrails and trucks.

Just throwing this out there as a possible culprit-

No paint will adhere well if any of the cleaning agents (Dawn, degreaser, Simple Green, whatever one is using) are left on the surface. I've taken to doing several rinses, with a soft toothbrush.  Another possibility is calcium in the water. If your water leaves a film when it dries, that film may be the issue (even if you can't see it).  I usually do a final rinse with alcohol to be sure any foreign matter is removed.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Good point!  I do my final rinse in distilled water for exactly this reason - and also use distilled water for decals so that the calcium doesn't show there either.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.
