New N Scale Gates, Presumably From Evemodel

While Searching for NJI signals for a job. I discovered these which seem, competent.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/404332474282

Going to give them a shot, but for somebody like me not super enthused with stock animated gates they look a great deal better than past offerings in the price range. If still a little wonky in certain aspects.

Nice - those are an improvement over the versions with black crossbucks!

Been thinking about trying them for a while now.

Nevermind....I found some modern gates that really are as tall as those scale out to....

Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up. I've been waiting forever for NJI to do another production run, but these may fill the bill just as well. They're certainly cheap enough.

Does that mean you found some really low to the ground prototypes?

I was looking at the non-gate versions (these models are somewhat different than the evemodels versions) and they seem really low to the ground compared to what I remember. Fixable ... but odd.

Yeah, that is weird. It's like half of it is buried in the ground. WTH?

I had thought for some time that they were doing exactly that (burying their HO signal halfway down and calling it N scale). At least that's what it looked like from the photos where it's hard to tell for sure. The gated signal looks like it actually might be closer to N scale, even though it still looks a bit too low as well (but better than the gateless one two replies above this one). Up to NJI level? No way. But there's not too many other options out there right now (Showcase Miniatures, are you listening? ;)).

I have a dead NJI 2164 signal (accidentally yoinked the wires) that I've been waiting for years to replace, so I ordered up a set of these just to see if they're usable at all. It's actually pretty amazing that they can sell two signals and a flasher unit for a total of $32.

Call me crazy, but these seem a bit overlarge for N scale. Evemodel on the left, NJI on the right -

Maybe they sent me the wrong thing, but I definitely did purchase the one that was listed as N scale. Buyer beware I guess.

-Mark

P.S. Major kudos to Peteski for volunteering to fix the wiring on my NJI signal! Thankee sir!  :D

Geez sorry for steering ppl to these. Still going to grab a set for the layout since I still think its a lil better than the ever ubiquitous Model Power and BMann ones.

I see in their ad on Ebay that they have a picture with dimensions, did you measure them to see if they are right?

I added a picture out of the FHWA handbook on crossings. It gives dimensions for the crossing signals.

This is my first time trying to post a picture, I hope it works.

Measured from the base, it's about 1.25" tall, which matches the photo in the listing. Oddly enough, that's almost the exact same height as the NJI signal, but that's where the similarities end.

The seller sent me a refund and said I didn't need to bother sending them back. If anybody else wants them, you're welcome to them for the cost of postage.
