Downturn in coal shipping?

PRB in 2022 was all tumbleweed compared to 2018 (personal observations). Waiting an hour to see something turn a wheel on the main was pretty disappointing. My first trip out there was 2009, and it was the proverbial "there's always something moving within visual range", which is a fair distance out there, but is was like streetcars. Volumes are down significantly.

However, bear in mind that the newest SD70MAC's are in their 23rd year, the oldest their 30th... they are well used, new power dominate in the PRB now.

One of the NJ Transit heritage units made an extremely rare appearance to the Atlantic City line. Glad I got to see this one, I love how this scheme looked on the U34CHs and this GP40PH-2 wears it nicely as well.
