 I want to say "THANK YOU"for all the idea's and suggestions concerning the drive gear problem with the N scale Kato NW2 locomotive.
 
 I took the suggestion of super gluing the gear to the drive axle and applied it to My locomotive. After waiting 24 hours for the super glue to cure out and reassembling the locomotive carefully. I am saying with great Joy the problem is solved, the locomotive runs!!!
 
 From now on I will only operate the locomotive with a max of five (5) cars during an switching operation to keep the motor from working to hard.

If it pops loose again. I would try roughing up the smooth shaft right where the gear goes. It will give it some tooth for the glue to stick.
