Finally! Both the PRR and LIRR IS bridges are installed, completing the track install on the main side of the layout.







Added some more fence behind the elevated main, and a gap for the road under it. May install a gate, not sure. It is PRR property after all.

Here is a look down the mainline. All of the flat structures are built, save one more apartment behind the red one.



Weathered a loading dock for the team track that @Philip H suggested earlier. The brand new replacement board already has a stain.

Just looking at the angle between the two passenger cars in the Verde Canyon picture, it looks like a sharp curve.  My first thought was that it was a model photo, and I was ready to compliment someone on their scenery work.

Preparations continue towards my first operating session in two years next weekend.  I have got more servos working correctly, and am now down to just two requiring further attention.  I have been cleaning track, getting engines running, placing freight cars back on the layout for the first session, and preparing all of the operating paperwork.

I got the layout's laptop computer up and running for recommissioning of the fast clocks:




The clocks were built by my friend Victor who was on hand to get them working again:








I also ran a pair of wires through the wall to power the new fast clock at Septimus in the adjacent room:




More preparations this weekend; really looking forward to hosting an op session again!

I got 3 miscellaneous locomotives that I literally found in my toolbox and have no recollections of listed on eBay. Should be able to find something fun, assuming the two less desirable ones more than the minimum bid. Come on people, it’s a special run popsicle locomotive and caboose, bid more than 99 cents!

Finally, a little progress on SP 6001.  Here's 6001C. 



It's a Precision Craft E7B, painted with Tru-Color, decals are a mix of Micro-Scale and home-made.

I made stainless steel handrails, but they interfered with the frame on the inside of the shell, so I had to grind away a little.
This shows where I had to grind.



Still need to do this for 6001A and 6001B. 
All three will also need the rear window - BLW didn't have any spares for this window, so I'll have to make something.

I finished off another boxcar for my White Pine layout. I stripped and repainted a FVM boxcar for this one.

My first thought was “what’s with the handbrake on the coach to the right?”

Probably 5 or 6 weeks of on and off work but I'm close enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Only a few more steps (x5) to go.

This week I soldered some very difficult handrails.

Here’s the prototype:







I started by making some assembly jigs. I used styrene V groove siding and .015” phosphor bronze wire sits in grooves with a matching cover screwed on top to hold it in place.





The idea was to make repeatable assemblies and solder them in place in the jig. It mostly worked but I started to melt the jigs. Alas a couple of them turned out not so perfect and the jugs did not survive. But I feel like I’m happy with what I ended up with.



Next ti get them painted up with chrome metalizer.
