Kinda glad there's only 3x 4x SP numbers in this run to spread the pain out over time....and no CNW to make the decisions difficult.

Thanks @scaletrains for bringing these to N and ending the nearly 30 year wait for SP models.

Only 3 numbers? I counted 4. 100, 142, 146, and 163. Unless you are considering 146 not legit? I was always told the magnet got placed prior to assimulation date, but the earliest I can find is November 24, 1996. Close enough for me. Alas I'm only picking up a trio myself as that's how I remember SP running them the majority of the time.

Maybe I’m just out of the loop, but why are the CSX YN2 units listed as only prototypical through the early 2000’s, when there’s still a bunch with those road numbers running today?

White cab roofs. CSX started painting the roof of the cabs white. This are as deliver.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Now THIS is what I've been waiting for!

But why is the faded ex-SP version not patched? I mean, it already has the UP yellow stripe...Yes, I can add my own patch decal but then I still have to change the digits on the numberboards.

I was also looking forward to seeing the new "small flag" latest UP livery since most of those are AC4400CWs...but I guess I gotta wait for the next run, sigh...

Very excited for both CSX schemes! I’m looking forward to seeing CSX 37 alongside my ET44 fleet. I noticed that they did not add PTC to the N Scale version like they did to the HO version. Does anyone make the style of PTC array that CSX uses?

And in BNSF! Also CP. I believe BNSF leased some of the CP 4400CW's, but I think they may have been pre-beaver logo, not sure.

Probably a decade's worth of paint schemes still to offer when you consider tribute schemes and a few fallen flags.

177 was renumbered/repainted into yellow 12/7/15 to UP 6252
199 was renumbered/repainted into yellow 4/10/12 to UP 6147

Neither was patched prior to repaint.

Man, nothing said mid 2000s railfanning is boring to me like NS Dash 9s and CSX AC4400s. But now? I'm a bit nostalgic. @GonzoCRFan is gonna bust my balls for getting soft. lol

What balls?

This is such a welcome announcement — this has been the biggest hole in my roster for a long time.

Kato has only run their AC4400CWs in very few schemes and not much that was suitable for the '90s.

My only beef is that three SP road numbers in the as-delivered scheme is not enough! (146 with the logo on the inverter cabinet was extremely short-lived, and is not for me).

I need five or six. I've emailed sales @ scaletrains.com to ask for more (I've already voted with my pre-order wallet as much as possible with the current SP and UP as-delivered road numbers).

Interesting that these will come with Loksound V5 nanos (E24) in place of the V5 Micro (Next 18). The Next18 decoder was a very tight fit with the shell, but it could be a challenge to solder a keep alive with the nano depending on what they do with their main PCB board.

Cheers!

I did find it interesting that of the almost 300 that the SP had, the listed road numbers are early ones.
