I wish this dude would take donations or a Patreon or something to keep that site alive, I use it far more often than the bigots at Railpictures.net....
and I mean it. I'm not sorry, the neckbeards that run that site complain if the lighting is off or something like a telephone pole is in the shot... I'll die on this hill.

http://www.rrpicturearchives.net is up for me. Came right up, not even the usual slowdowns.

Either the outage was momentary and is resolved, or that screencap is a fake, which I would not doubt for a microsecond given the FB attribution.

NEVER MIND. I tried again and there is some major weirdness going on. I now get a SonicWall login page. Maybe Tim is moving to another server and we're catching it midstream.

Ah, railpictures.net. Stan Lytle's legacy. You'd have to have known or known of Stan to understand. I'll leave it at that.

It's working for me at 0105 EDT, and was working at about 2215 EDT.  I didn't try between times.

I know Stan Lytle was behind railcarphotos.net, but he was behind railpictures.net too? I thought that grew out of a college project for some dude who was definitely not named Stan (the name escapes me).

Hmm. Yeah, Stan was certainly railcarphotos.com and locophotos.com. It's certainly possible that I'm misremembering a connection between Stan and the guys running railpictures.net, bearing in mind it started 20 years ago.

I'm still getting the SonicWall page. Could be a DNS propagation issue after a change.

Just came up for me, 0618 CDT. I'm still guessing moving servers, or a maintenance outage.

That screen cap in the original post was mine, not from FB.  But as of 1030am est this morning, it's back up for me.

Always gives a scare when it says website has expired.

Yeah I got the same yesterday; it’s so much better organized for research as well than railpictures.net; I really need to go save all the major photos I use for research from there

The two sites serve two very different purposes.

Railpictures.net views itself more as an art gallery, showcasing "the best". RRPictureArchives is a library.

If you prefer less politics than railpictures.net (there was definitely some when I was a regular contributor) try https://www.trainphotos.com, which to me has a more mature set of contributors.
