I took a few photos this afternoon of my Wisconsin Dells modules.  I wanted to do this outside, but it's in the mid 40's, windy, and rainy......yuck.......

Nothing exciting beyond making a prototype crossing signal head out of brass this week, a little burned with rushing stuff together for AC the week before. So heres the assembly of a Mystery Balloon and a handrail that I had to fix on what I received in the Rapido Mystery box.

Great fix ... now do the rest of them in a similar diameter wire and it wil really look good.

Oh not brave enough for that yet. It adds charm and compliments all the other oddly differing handrail diameters present.

Thank you to all that commented - it was a fun build that will end up being a portion of the new layout .. I still need to do ballast and some other bits an pieces, but otherwise, it's complete and passes the 3' test for me .. I also learned a few new lessons on 3D printing .. the main building had to be printed several times, since I designed the windows into the main body -- but made the mullions to thin .. also the OG prototype uses a green trim that was a pain to replicate .. I wasn't as successful there either .

I also tried out the turnout linkage that @Sumner shared on his website for mounting common slide switches - It works well and the design has a number of options to make it work.  In my case, I ended up changing a few of the dimensions for printing, but most adjustments could be made with a file ..

I note that the N scale Mystery Box is sold out on their website, so if what I understand about marketing is correct, they'll now see n scale as almost 100% a Mystery Box market. Huzzah!

Did some decoder work for a local (the LokProgrammer really helps out vs. JMRI!) - wouldn't mind seeing these Rapido units in N scale at some point.

The orgy of printing continued, but no painting... don't hold your breath, I might get the time to paint them next month.

From last week's weekend update, I can offer a (slight) improvement - this week's family photo is the real deal, not some CGI image laboriously created by my poor laptop, which doubtless has learned to fear hotel rooms for the abuse perpetrated on it.

Chilly, rainy day today, perfect time to finish up this LPG tanker.  Tangent 100-ton trucks worked perfectly to lower the car for body-mount 1025s.

I used a pencil to create some wear on the running board, and applied some MIG pigments on the body of the car - I didn't want to turn it into a beater:

I put together a DCC-EX, similar to DCC++, base station with Wi-Fi and it got me in the mood to do some lighting.

I'm waiting on the paint for the ditch lights to dry so I only have the exterior lights above the trucks wired. MRL's F45 didn't seem to have any other lights from looking at pictures of them, like in the step wells, making this one easycompared to the SD40-2F I did that had lights all over.

The 0201 leds I used are a little bit too white and I'm hoping a very small dab of clear orange paint will fix that.

The shelving brackets arrived so I was able to install the LED lighting on two modules. I'm getting 2000 lumens of 5000K light with the LEDs at 18in above the cork. The remote dimmers arrive this week as well as some 2700K LEDs that I will also put on dimmers so I can transition from daylight to dusk for variation.



I also got 3 new track modules complete for the trackage in front of the piers on Delaware Ave.
