GHQ Hiawatha build on bachmann chassis

Currently working on a GHQ Hiawatha Hudson using the bachmann DCC Hudson as a base. Figured this would be a good place to share the progress as it comes along.

So far I've carved out a lot of the shell, shortened the trailing truck along with moving it slightly back, and rebuilt the linkage using donor parts and some scratch building.

That’s looking great!
Thanks for sharing the details of the build.

Not sure why the main image ended up upside down but I can't seem to fix it either.

Excellent! I might do the same thing one day if I can find a kit.  I was actually on the GHQ website last night seeing if any more were available but all it had was a reservation for another run of kits.

That's an interesting project.
As for the image problems, you thank the smart phones and the way they store graphic images.  See more details in
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=53677.0

I would also suggest that instead of uploading images to the post, you create a Poto Gallery and kink to images there.  It is slightly bit more work, but easier to manage and view able by wider audience.  See
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=42854.0

If you want to continue just uploading images to a post, using the "Inlinie full-size image" option would make it easier on the readers, as there is no need to click on each image to expand them. Most of the members use full size images (to make things easier to view with less mouse clicking).

Now that I'm done with the educational info, I'll be following your progress.

I right clicked on the image you linked to and then opened it in a new tab. That's just the picture without the rest of imgur around it. That url can then be copied and embedded using the insert image button.

Amazing, thank you! This is definitely the best look at everything I've been a little to get so far, even just the side shot is the best quality I've seen, much better than what I've been going off so far

Of course it's the best.  It's the original.  ;)  I assume you don't have the very nice plans in the Jan 1996 MR? I'd recommend getting that if you can.

I'll have to look into it, hopefully I can find scans or something of the pages I need.

I kept seeing larger scale versions of this with only a half window to allow a conductor to lean out so I decided to build in opening windows

Conductors weren’t allowed in engine cabs.

With all this precision work on the side windows I wonder why the front cab window is blanked out?  Even with no "glass" it would look good it it was see-through.  With the 3D printing technology that should be doable.
