FYI,

Just noticed the KatoUSA website parts ordering system is down indefinitely (no ETA listed).

Bummer- need some silver passenger trucks.

I think it’s been like that for quite a while - several months at least.

You can call directly and order parts if necessary.

The web pages says since March 1st something broke so they are rebuilding.  I guess it was sometime in February that I was last there looking for parts.

I figured that but it is difficult when you cannot get to the Kato part number first.

Would this help with a part number, or an alternate ordering site possibly ? ( no affiliation, just came up in a google search)

Grrr... I just bought a brand new Kato ALC-42 and those tiny rear MU hoses keep popping off of the shell. I even glued them on and they still popped off (caught one of the barely clinging on, but the other is lost to oblivion. But it seems I can't even order a replacement part for that. Gee thanks, Kato.

Yes, those come loose fairly easily. And of course those are made from a slippery plastic which no glue will hold.  My solution is to take a soldering iron with a sharp tip and melt the tab one the back of the hose assembly. That will prevent them from falling out.  I should post a photo that shows what I mean.

Yes, shutting down their parts website was a dumb move.  My friend was fortunate to place an order there few weeks ago when the old parts site was still up. They should have keep it going until the new one was ready for a seamless transfer. Seems that Kato USA hasn't been making good decisions lately.  Between losing 2 of their really good employees, announcing move away from ESU decoders, and the "new and improved" website, they have not been doing well.  The only new and improved thing about their (still incomplete) site is bunch of flashy new "eye candy" which does not do anything for the site's functionality.  Again, why not make sure the new site is fully functional before migrating to it?

Yeah noticed this a while ago too, I've been meaning to try and order the roof details of Mid Production 40-2s for a while now since its hard to find BLMA Vapor AC units... I have a bunch of Santa Fe units that need those...

MBK (modeltrainstuff.com) usually carries a good selection of Kato's spare parts (and at a discount).  Maybe check there if they have the trucks you need?
