I just find it fascinating how it is now theoretically possible for a train to go from Canada to Mexico and still be on tracks owned by the same people.

I don't expect there will be any change. CP will absorb KCS, and KCS locomotives eventually will be repainted as they enter the main shops.

Given that KCS signage started being removed from KCS facilities shortly after the announcement yesterday, I suspect you are correct.
